For all you guys who want to talk about musical gear.

My guitar gear is: Ibanez RG 350 DX and a Fender Starcaster(planning to eventually replace w/a strat or customize)

Peavey Classic 30 Tube Amp

and some effects: BOSS MD-2 Mega Distortion, BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive, BOSS DD-6 Digital Delay

Whaddayaknow, I have an RG 350 DX myself. I'm hoping to get hold of a higher-end Ibanez (that is to say, a Prestige or one of the new Premium models) somewhere down the line. Most important piece of gear I own by far though is the Line 6 Pod X3 Pro rackmount unit, very versatile piece of gear. I also have a Marshall practice amp and a crappy old BC Rich that I bought as my first guitar, plus a Yamaha keyboard that I can't play at the moment because I lost the adapter (luckily there's an electric piano in my house that I can use for occasional practice).

Why does everyone have an RG 350 DX? I do too, and so does one of my friends (he accused me of ripping him off when I got mine, even though I didn't know about his).

There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!

My alto and tenor saxophones are fairly standard Yamaha horns, which are fine for me. I have metallic Otto Link six-star mouthpieces for both instruments and I prefer LaVoz reeds. My seldom-played clarinet is also Yamaha-made, though I don't think I'll ever bother with an expensive mouthpiece for it.

Come to think of it, my keyboard is a Yamaha product as well.

My guitar is a plain old Squier stratocaster. Since I'm pretty much a beginner, there wasn't any need to spend a lot of money on a really top class instrument.

Drum stuff

  • TAMA Swingstar 4-piece shell set (bass drum and 3 toms) w/ Remo Clear Pinstripe heads
  • Mapex Steel Black Panther snare w/ Remo Coated Ambassador head
  • TAMA Iron Cobra Power Glide kick pedal
  • Agop Istanbul X-ist 14" hi-hats
  • Zildjian ZXT Titanium 20" Medium ride cymbal
  • Hammerax 19" Liquicy cymbal
  • Zildjian A Custom 18" crash cymbal
  • Zildjian K China Boy 19" china cymbal
  • Roland TD-4KX electric kit

and I prefer to use Vic Firth 5BN or 5AN hickory sticks. I did use Pro-Mark Shira Kashi Oak sticks for a while, but the nylon-tip versions were too hard to get hold of, and nylon tips just last longer

... yeah, drums is an expensive hobby...

Haha, you have a Black Panther too! My band's old drummer had one. I doubt he was making the best of its potential, sound-quality-wise, though. Oh, and Iron Cobra and TAMA shells are pretty much approved, some of my favourite drum sounds have come from TAMA kits.

[up][up][up][up] Because RG's are beasts. In fact, pretty much everything from Ibanez is.

Anyway I mostly use my Starcaster for clean tones and just playing bluesy or jazzy tunes. The RG is for...pretty much pretending that I'm Steve Vai...I really want a JEM. Besides that I have an old classical guitar, that I got as my starting guitar.

My Peavey amp, I got from my photography teacher for only $150, before that I just had a plain old Micro Cube Amp.

I used to have an old Yamaha keyboard, but my parents tossed it out because it wasn't used.
