I didn't really like Ika Musume all that much. It seemed average to me. I enjoyed Soredemo Machi Wa Mawatteiru quite a bit more as far as fall 2010 seinen comedies are concerned.

On topic:

This season doesn't seem to have any killer titles so far. It may very well be the case that my entire fall season is comprised of continuing to follow Mawaru Penguindrum from this season.

However I will try these before writing the Fall season off*

Yeah, reruns are rare in Japan but it's not completely impossible. And surely that's less of a waste of money then reanimating the entire series from the very beginning. Unless they add a lot of changes, that's almost like Endless Eight on a series-wide scale, and I can't see much room for change without alienating the existing fans.

Well, that settles how they were expecting to give the manga enough time to wrap up, at least this arc.

The new Hunter X Hunter anime will retell the series from the start. And the official airdate is October 2nd.

Oh what?! I wanna see Chimera Ant Arc! just bugs me

Besides, that's like.....Start, Hunter Exams, that Tower Tournament, Yorkshin City, Greed Island...5 seasons they'd have to animate!

I wonder what they could improve from the first anime though. I can only remember one scene that was unfaithful to the manga, and that was for censorship reason.

edit - Looks like it's being made by Mad House...not sure if this is a good thing or not. This company's animes have all been either Completely Horrible Garbage, or Great Glorious Gold. The company doesn't really have much of a middle ground does it?

Wait, what? H x H is starting anew?

...why? I mean, I'm ok with it, but why would they even want to animate it from the start again?

angry Nitoplus fans would like to have a word with you.

But yeah, Madhouse don't make many bad anime compared to other studios, but they still make a couple.

Their good/bad ratio is highly positive though. Maybe it's not exactly their adaptation skill but more like what they adapt.

Though their "competition" isn't exactly stellar in terms of quality anime they produce. I mean just look at what JC Staff and DEEN have produced in their lifetime. I've never seen such a giant mountain of steaming shit in my life.

Looking at Hunter X Hunter, its nice to see more anime receiving the FMA / Hellsing treatment. *waits patiently for Shaman King remake*

True, but JC Staff were actually good before Shana came along in my opinion. I enjoyed Azumanga Daioh, Revolutionary Girl Utena and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar quite a bit. YMMV on that, of course. Since Shana, the only anime I enjoyed from them recently are Potemayo and, to a certain extent, Shigofumi.

As for Deen, they animated two of my favourite Mamoru Oshii-directed works (Angels Egg and the second episode of Twilight Q), but apart from that, their next best work is... Binchou-tan. Not a bad anime, but when an anime about moe charcoal doing nothing is the third best work you have ever produced, you know there's something wrong. Scratch that, I forgot about Simoun, which is genuinely good. I still have to see Shion No Ou too.

I see Brains Base as a Spiritual Successor to the "old-school" JC Staff (see Mawaru Penguindrum) and as the only production company that can really go toe-to-toe with Madhouse quality-wise on a regular basis these days.

A lot of this depends on your tastes. It's been a long time since Madhouse has put out anything I liked, but there's been plenty of JC Staff anime I've enjoyed

Another new anime to add to the Fall 2011 schedule, Maken-Ki!

Apparentley the authour of this series was also a hentai artist.

It shows.

Something seems...odd about the character designs, puffy cheeks? Does everyone seem a bit masculine looking?

[up][up][up] Um... Wow. I didn't think it was possible to make a series look so uninspired and generic.

This is bad how?

I don't mind uninspired and Generic. Never have, never will.

If it catches my interests, I will watch it. Simple as that.

I don't mind uninspired and generic either. As long as it manages to be a fun and enjoyable ride that is.

This anime...doesn't.

Even though you're not in it for the ecchi, there's still some good fight in there.

For my opinion...I'll give it a chance...and probably end up watching it...maybe.

Some of the character designs and proportions still weirds me out though, and the male protagonist is a bit on the unsightly side. It could use a Token Loli or two...

I still have to figure out why people create fanservice anime/manga with an excuse of a plot. I mean, couldn't you just do straight up hentai? Why would I be interested in herp derp pantyshots with some pseudo-plot when I could just watch the "real" thing?

Well...Hentai don't have very great production values most of the times. And thanks to japanese laws, they're also subjected to extremely obscuring mosaics that often blurs out everything around the genitals as well, not just a convenient ray of light or mysterious steam that can be taken out in the DVD release.

And whether it's your cup of tea or not, ecchi often has a sense of humor that comes with their fanservice, and often more light hearted, nothing too emo or serious.
