Have any examples of these.....?

This is the most epic of them, no doubt about it.

Fun fact: The official video of this song contains Evan Rachel Wood and Terrance Stamp in the lead roles.

Wrong.

I really wish I could find Drunken Boat's "Spin Around" on youtube or grooveshark - it has a pretty surreal spoken outro - with two tracks of the singer rambling incoherently about different things.

What I can find a link for though, is this:

Guessing samples don't count, or I'd be like, posting all of Dopethrone right now.

EDIT: Ah - just remembered. A spoken-word interlude nearly totally ruined Leonard Cohen's original version of Hallelujah for me.

O dear, Youtube has failed me. I wanted to post “Yesterdays Ideals” by Lucifer’s Friend, which had a hilarious German-accented narration at the beginning (“Vint of taahm...vint of taaaaaahm...”) but it’s not up there (at least not in its entirety).

Oh well, have this instead:

Early 70s jazz was lousy with this kind of stuff. Thank you, Freddie Hubbard, you came to my rescue!

This. The spoken-word part begins at about the 7:00 mark.

The only time I ever like spoken word is when it's a sample of Mario Savio's "Body upon the Gears" speech, of which I've only heard three songs use it.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.

BTW, "Overture 1928" begins around the 2 minute mark.

I used to hate the spoken word part of this (starting about 4:08), but I've come to decide that 1) it's really no more ridiculous than several other parts of the song (it involves Rivers Cuomo rapping over classical-influenced piano for chrissakes), and 2) it kinda works in context and has a certain Narm Charm to it:

As far as older stuff goes, there's also the beginning of this:

The entire album "An American Prayer" by The Doors is spoken word, because it's Jim Morrison speaking his poetry. It's also pretty good, though it's... odd, in some parts. "Lament" is a good example of that.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.

Speaking of spoken-word tracks, here’s one of the most controversial:
