So it comes out soon.
And...it has a 59% or so on Rotten Tomatoes.
What.

I... I don't even know what to say... I know Cars was their weakest film overall, and I wasn't planning on seeing this one... but... after Toy Story 3, it's just so damn sad.

Oh don't be like that people, mountains out of molehills. First off it's a Pixar film which means like Cars it'll just be Good and never go below that.

Besides, the franchise is highly profitable which means they can go on making their EXCELLENT stuff.

People worry too much.

Most of the negative reviews right now are from hipster magazines that hate the concept of sequels. More mainstream critics will be nicer to it.

Also, critics and animated films don't always go together. They trashed Legend of the Guardians simply because it wasn't a comedy.

Eh, you're right. Besides, the movie isn't even out yet. And even if the critic's don't like it, mainstream audiences are sure to like it

Wow, Disney is sure merchandising the hell outta this one. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Cars 2 the flamethrower.

[up] Yeah, I've never seen merchandise for any other Pixar film like I have for Cars. More than Toy Story, even.

I saw it coming, not surprised but somewhat disappointed. I'm not soo upset, I'm still going to see it sometime in theaters, it's Pixar, I have to see it.

It'll probably go a lot lower too, most of the time the early reviews are the most positive and it just goes down hill from there once more and more critics watch the movie.

Cars came out in 2006, which is a lifetime ago in little-kid-years, and the store I used to work for moved TONS of Cars merchandise. For some reason that movie really sank its hooks into the brains of small children. I'm certain this is 99.9% of the reason they made a sequel, and with the money they make from the new movie's merch Pixar will buy the moon.

Meh, few select people hated Toy Story 3 as well.

Of course, 59% is slightly more than "select."

I think the reason Cars resonated so much with little kids in terms of merch is because it's like little toy cars (which are always popular), but with the added bonus of them being action figures too, because the cars have personalities and talk.

Yeah, Cars is Disney's biggest cash whore right now. Whenever I go into any big store, there'a always an entire wall full of Cars crap.

Yeah, I didn't like Toy Story 3. Too much "characters running around", seemed like it was trying too hard. Didn't like Wall-E either.

Id recommend clicking top critics on rotten tomatoes when looking up movie scores and make much more sense. Toy story 3 has a 100% and Cars 2 has a 67%

Baronof Barons: Pfft, like bad reviews will stop Cars 2 from making an assload of money. Carsland will be just fine in 2012.

o_O Is it that surprising? I guessed I braced myself for it [lol]

According to some of the reviews I've read the focus is more on Mater than it is on Lightning, which was what I was hoping to avoid, uggh. I guess it was evident since it was seen in the trailers but eh, whatevs.

Well, I'm glad to have a Mater story. So I now give it a 300000% rating on my personal review site to counter balance the Rotten Tomatoes reviews.

So you can see it in confidence.

Seriously, I don't understand people who put any credence to reviews. Going to a movie theater, I know I'm getting ripped off regardless of the quality of the movie.

[down]

I said any credence. That applies in the individual and the aggregate.

I don't take one review to heart. But a bunch of reviews all summing up the overall quality of the film is indeed valuable.
