...'Mojo'? So Muhammad is a super-intelligent evil monkey who's the nemesis of a trio of super-powered little girls?

Also, not all muslims believe that. The Persians painted pictures of him all the time, with his face in it. And the people who don't want pictures of him don't worship him (although it may not seem like that. >.>), that whole thing was started because people didn't want people to worship Muhammad.

@Trotzky

It's insulting to Muslims to name calling the prophet.

The ban to represent the face of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) is a preventive step to stop people from worshipping image or idols. The ban also covers all previous prophets.

Muslims don't worship Mohammed any more than Catholics worship Mary.

Indeed. You even suggest that notion to a Muslim inrl often is quick way for an argument and/or a fight to break out.

Lutherans and Calvinists and Buddhists are perfectly happy being named after their prophets.

I think they pictured his body, but left his face blank with a halo of fire. But with a very literal and fundamentalist interpretation of the Koran its forbidden to picture anyone at all (no animals or plants either, thats why you can find beautiful geometric decorations in mosques) IIRC.

[up] True enough.

But at least in the case of neopaganism... It's founders didn't write the religious lore themselves, though. tongue

They were mostly dudes who said: Y'know? Those things the ancient pagans did and believed... They make sense. Let's start doing'em again.

The modern founders aren't particularly relevant.

True, but followers of the Aesir didn't call themselves "odinites", mainly because there aren't that many prophets anyway.

What's your point? There are no restrictions on naming children after the prophets in Islam either.

My point was to compare and contrast IRA (Roman terrorists in the last millennium)with Wahabism (Muslim terrorists in this millennium).

"Papist" is an insulting word for the Roman Church by naming them after their prophet. Their Terrorist branch has signed a Peace Treaty and has mostly kept that Treaty. Therefore it is reasonable for us to NOT apply insulting words for their Church.

The terrorist branches of the Muslim churches are at war with us, therefore, it is appropriate for us to apply insulting words for theit churches. That's logical Captain.

I would not call it logical at all, but possibly part of human nature as it stands.

Also, they're more like masjids, really...

@ Trotzky

In your world. All Muslims follow the same mazhab, sourced from a single tafseer, practised a single set of fiqh and subjected to a single set of fatwa. However, this is not how the real world works. Your insistence that the Al-Qaeda as a militant organisation that is somehow a manifestation of the collective Muslim World's ideals is faulty. Your insult does hurt a lot of people who does not deserve it.

Hmm, I was interested to see what T Vtropes thought about Pat Condell, but I find the posts disappointing. See, I was hoping to see some valid criticism, but instead, I find none. For example, Inhopelessguy is apparently a muslim, but he didn't even watch the whole video, and he didn't even check out the source that were on that video for the 40% support Sharia law. Now, these results may seem shocking, but they are not actually surprising when you realize that these results come from the muslim ghettos of London, and many of them are populated by extremely radicalized muslim "scholars". Considering that a teacher was recently beaten to a coma by gangs from those ghettos is seriously concerning.

Also, I don't think Inhopelessguy knows that Pat Condell is an atheist, and he has said many things against Christianity, the Catholic Church, the Whabbi sects of Saudi Arabia, and the Shia State Iran, and organized religion in general. So criticizing him for ignoring that other religion had committed atrocity seems silly in light of his other videos, like Aggressive Atheism or Politics and Religion.
