I hate my only computer available. When I go to a system requirements site, its CPU is still about 75% as good as the top end CPU, but it's video card is only 39% as good as the top end card and it's not even integrated garbage... if only I could replace it (it's a laptop, so that's a biiiiit complicated) so that Street Fighter V would stop looking like trash...

Anyway, final haul time!

And because I'm OC with my hard disk space (even if I have like 150GB left), I said goodbye to Freedom Planet, Team Fortress 2 and Civilization V temporarily.

Someday, I would like Gabe Newell could become the new president of the world.

Is a flawless plan.

With Gaben as the new leader of the world.

The World War 3 will never gonna happen.

Until the servers start crashing. Or people start bitching about the quality of the Early Access titles. Or he starts selling more in-game hats for DOTA and TF 2 instead of making actual new content. Or he doesn't create Half Life 3 while president.

So yeah, lots of reasons to riot and topple Lord Gaben, really.

Hahaha, yeah.

To be fair, I didn't made the joke, but I had to do it.

[up][up]Still won't cause World War III, though. Under Gaben World War III will be impossible, so at least there's that.

[up]You doubt the divisiveness of games like DOTA 2 and Counterstrike: Global Offensive. Many Russians and Eastern Europeans play those games, and if they were to ever feel that access to their beloved games was in jeopardy, they may react... violently. Negotiations will be impossible too; no doubt at some point you have tried (and failed) to reason with the DOTA 2 C:GO community and their indecipherable jargon.

And that's not even counting all the Arabs who still play outdated RTS games like C&C: Generals and their varied mods. They may form an alliance with the Russians, due to their similarly crappy PC hardware, and jealously of our superior desktops.

Still wouldn't have WW3. We'd just have WW 2: Episodes 1 and 2 and then nothing ever again.

Oh really when?

An interesting offer. How'd you obtain the E-cards though?

I don't think the admins approve of selling stuff on the forums however - you might want to run this past them.

I found it here initially because I want to have an option to give games to my boyfriend easier. It's kinda silly since users can just connect their cards like I did. I can't sell here, anyway. ._.

I'm sick of this.

I really am.

PC gaming isn't turning out the way I thought it would. Newer games I would expect to have issues sure because I'm not a whiz with electronics, and I'm not upgrading parts annually, or working with the highest end, $1000 parts sure.

I can't play FF VII because apparently a service is unavailable. I cannot play a game from 1997 because a service is unavailable. The game is paid for and installed, but I need NA/SQE's permission to play it.

"Oh well maybe I can stop crying about this and find some guide on how to fix this problem, or find someone else who has gone through a similar problem."

Google: Nope! Well there were some peeps who were struggling with this in 2014 >_> but that's probably not relevant to what your $900 piece of crap is going through, ha ha!

Steam forums: Try updating your drivers! Try reinstalling Steam for 6-10 hours and see if that works! Try reinstalling direct X/C+++ to your VII folder!

Add to that all of the Shovelware, Pay-to-Win, and obvious web-browser titles flooding Steam's service. I hate to say it, but it looks like the lack of barriers to publishing a title on Steam has backfired terribly and warrants Steam reverting to their older system of all games being 'filtered' again.

Thanks for the heads-up on FF VII. I have it on original black disc cd-roms so if I do want to play it on my computer I can use EPSXE for it.

So does anyone know how to get rid of the whole age gates with steam? I have really snapped when it comes to them, its happening every single game I look at on steam now.

The option to not show it again is gone.... I am fucking over 30 I do NOT want to have to enter it in anymore damnit.

That is utter bullshit, there should be an option in the settings that lets you just do it once when you log into steam on a computer or the ability to save your birthday with steam. I REALLY do not care if Steam knows my birthday or not.

This shit is going to drive me to GMG or gray market sites to avoid this.

There has gotta be a script or something to get rid of it.

Aaaaaaaannnnddddd the floodgates are now well and truly officially open.

Valve is addressing recent controversy over what types of games — and what kind of content — can be sold on Steam with a new policy that will let virtually anything appear on the storefront, as long as it’s not “illegal or straight up trolling.”

Rather than police offensive or adult content, Valve is taking an even more hands-off approach to what can appear on the Steam store.

“We’ve decided that the right approach is to allow everything onto the Steam Store, except for things that we decide are illegal, or straight up trolling,” Valve executive Erik Johnson said in an update posted to the Steam Blog. “Taking this approach allows us to focus less on trying to police what should be on Steam, and more on building those tools to give people control over what kinds of content they see.”

Valve’s blog post is a direct response to questions over adult visual novels being threatened with removal from Steam. Adult visual novels have a long history of being censored — if not directly removed from the platform — raising questions over censorship after developers were reportedly told to remove certain content. Valve said that it shouldn’t act as a gatekeeper for games unless they break the law or are sold with the intent to troll.

Instead, Valve said it plans to release new tools to help users filter out games they don’t want to see in their marketplace.

“Valve shouldn’t be the ones deciding this,” Johnson said. “If you’re a player, we shouldn’t be choosing for you what content you can or can’t buy. If you’re a developer, we shouldn’t be choosing what content you’re allowed to create. Those choices should be yours to make. Our role should be to provide systems and tools to support your efforts to make these choices for yourself, and to help you do it in a way that makes you feel comfortable.”

There are some stipulations, though. Johnson said that because laws are different in various countries, developers working with sensitive material should work with Valve ahead of time to ensure their game doesn’t violate regional guidelines. The company is also distancing itself from associating itself with or tacitly endorsing certain games. Johnson said certain games, like adult visual novels or controversial school shooting games that populate the digital marketplace, are not a reflection of the company’s values.

Games that are currently in limbo won’t be pushed onto Steam until new content filtering tools mentioned in Johnson’s blog post go live. The company said it will be working on these tools “for the foreseeable future,” but doesn’t have estimated timeline for when the tools may go into effect, according to Johnson.

Polygon has reached out to Valve for further information on what exactly constitutes “straight up trolling” and illegal content, and will update when the company responds.

I'm beginning to wonder if Valve lost some crucial member in their leadership. It would go far to explain their recent decisions and oddly lacking responses towards known problems as of late.

And I don't see this latest 'open for all"choice ending well either. They were already having problems with hordes of cheap asset-rip titles and zero-effort games flooding their already clogged library, and now they're going to allow active shooter titles? I'd give it a week before some idiot puts a pro-Nazi, KKK or whatever hate-group title up.

That should fall under illegal and/or trolling. Not that there's any easy way to report such things.

[up]And that's the problem. Valve just made it a whole lot easier to argue around the issue.

Say if I were to make an "Honest-to-God" game about playing as the Nazis and committing atrocities against the enemies of the Reich, up to and including justifying the stuff at Auschwitz, and publish it on Steam. Now, for you and me that's a pretty obvious bannable offense, but once you get a horde of Storm Front internet lawyers screeching about the subject I guarantee they'll try to spin it. Probably either as a "historical reflection" upon past events, or worse, with the current political environment since Trump, just take the easy, dumb route and say that Valve's infringing upon their freedom of speech to hate certain folks.

Fortunately Valve's a big enough entity to survive the good old repeat-lawsuit tactic, but it's their shitty QA and lack of supervision that may damn them, merely by the defense pointing out a bunch of other racist titles in Steam's library and asking why is their product being singled out.

At this point, I think it's best for Valve to just shutter the Steam Direct and Early Access program for good, and restrict it solely to human review. Yeah, it means a bunch of legit content producers are going to get punished, but at least they'll finally be able to properly prune the Steam library and remove the hordes of now-defunct early-alphas, asset rips, achievement grinders, or overall poor-quality titles.
