Still, I haven't seen anybody complain about their Dr. Seuss specials.

Is there a more perfect Cat in the Hat than Allan Sherman?

Is the Lebron James Space Jam 2 still happening? (It shouldn't, Space Jam is a 100% period piece, Looney Tunes are less then half as popular now, and no athlete in the history of the NBA-before or since-rivals Jordan, who probably could have been elected president if he wanted to.)

Oh, if a celebrity with a shot at presidency is what is needed, how about Space Jam 2: Trump meets the Looney Tunes, where Donald (whom Daffy keeps mocking about his first name) keeps hilariously trying to deport Speedy Gonzales and keep him away with a wall.

That's saying a lot considering Jordan's performance wasn't exactly great either.

[up] Well, Jordan's not an actor. For someone who isn't an actor, I think he did okay.

I personally would LOVE to see a Looney Tunes short featuring Donald Trump as the villain. Hell, he comes off more like a Looney Tunes villain than an actual person most of the time. He seems like just the sort of blowhard that Bugs would heckle.

Fearlessly parodying real people is a Looney Tunes trademark that I'd like to see return to the franchise in general.

If Trumps loses, I wanna see a cartoon that reveals that he's actually Daffy Duck in disguise.

I always thought Trump's brain was still in Bill the Cat...

I remember reading that Michael Jackson was the original star of Space Jam (Another celebrity who was so popular in his heyday that, if he were old enough, could have easily been elected president) but the first round of child molestation charges came up. Is that true?

Actually I think trump is really Elmer Fudd ("My name is Donawd Twump, miwyun-aire. I own a mansion and a yacht...")

Given the heavy basketball emphasis of Space Jam, if Michael Jackson was ever involved in a Looney Tunes film, my guess is it was a very different movie. I wonder how Disney feels about ''Captian Eo" these days...

It's worth remembering Michael Jackson turned into a bunny once.

The Animaniacs comics weren't above making fun of him. Although other than a Buttons and Mindy segment which had zombies and Buttons parodying Thriller, I don't remember the show itself ever referencing him.

[up][up] They brought it back for a few years after he died.

[up] The only jokes they could have made about him couldn't have been excused with a "Good night, everybody!"

Though I recall he appeared in one episode of Pinky And The Brain.

To be fair, if MJ was in Space Jam, they'd already have a theme song ready to go.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

I wonder why anyone thought it would be Michael Jackson considering the only reason Space Jam was made was because of those commercials with Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan...

I've been rewatching the old Fleischer/ Famous Studios Superman shorts (a DC property, but not DCAU) and it's pretty astonishing the level of detail present in these. In a lot of cases, when they show you a newspaper headline, if you look closely you can read the story underneath. In the short "The Underground World" there's a scene at the end where Perry White holds up Lois's types account of the adventure, and if you freeze-frame you can actually read it, and it is in fact an account of the cartoon's events, written like newscopy. I've read that the Fleischer's exaggerated what they thought they'd need for the budget of these cartoons (I believe they asked $90,000 per espisode) because they wanted to beg off, only to actually get the money. Apparently, they didn't scrimp on the production values and pocket the difference. The level of detail in these is amazing.

Another little sort-of-Easter egg; in "The Magnetic Telescope" theres a quick scene where some people are taking shelter in a subway entrance; if you look at a poster on the wall behind them, it pretty clearlt reads "Batman."

Hey guys! Apparently, Warner Bros. Animation is making a new series of Looney Tunes shorts that it will distribute across a wide variety of outlets (TV, mobile, etc).

They said that the shorts will be written and directed by cartoonists and they will express the cartoonists' creativity. This sounds like great news.

AWESOME!

different directors bringing new takes on the characters are exactly what this franchise needs. And the shorts are gonna total to 1,000 minutes!

Apparently, 1000 minutes is essentially a little over 16 hours.

Wonder when it'll start...

Ah, sweet! I hope they look to talent online (like Newgrounds) to create their own take on Looney Tunes. There are plenty of talented animators on the web who can create some of the funniest content that I really like to see get recognition.

So far we know Michael Ruocco and Andrew Dickman are both on it. They were one of the people who spread the announcement around.

Peter Browngardt (creator of the underrated Uncle Grandpa) is the executive producer of this. Good to see him still find work. His previous credits beside the last few episodes of UG were guest starring in a Sponge Bob episode.

Well that is cool to hear. Its one thing that Andrew Dickman, whose art style is actually appropriate for Looney Tunes, is part of this; but the executive producer is Peter Browngardt who actually have experience with this kind of project (see that one Uncle Grandpa which comprises a series of shorts done by different animators, that one was my favorite).

I actually have a kind of hope about this lasting because it seems like they won't rely on just CN for distribution (the variety of media the new shorts will be distributed to).

Looney Tunes is one of my favorite things ever (not just one of my favorite cartoons—one of my favorite things), so this is spectacular news. I wish they'd go 100% old-school and just run them in front of Warner Bros. movies.

Actually, that's a practice that needs to come back in general. Especially if it means Disney and Amblin make new Roger Rabbit cartoons (or at least finish Waiter, There's a Hare in My Soup).

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
