[up][up] Among them "Crisis on Infinite Mirths"...

It's amazing that given how we all got so excited over this, nobody's said anything about it. I went out to a friend who has HBO Max just to see it. So here's my thoughts:

They did a lot less with the majority of CN characters than I would have liked, but, well, budgetary issues and all. They weren't going to head to Vancouver to get Matt Hill or Sam Vincent to say a few lines. I do think they should have gotten Charlie Adler to say a line or two as the Red Guy, however, but I'm biased, and thankfully they did include him.

Given that Maxwell Atoms was involved it should be no surprise that the Billy and Mandy characters were the best-written in the whole thing. We may never get the reboot he wants, but honestly, I'll take this - especially since we got Hector Con Carne, Fred Fredburger and MOOOOOGAAAAAAR! as well. It felt like a reunion with an old friend you haven't seen in years.

The characters that spoke were, of course, limited to who they could get, but thankfully we got new lines from Rodney J. Squirrel, Truffles, Eduardo and even Monkey. (Since they got Rob Paulsen back as Major Glory, and they did have Tom Kenny and Frank Welker, I don't know why they didn't have Valhallen and Krunk as well.)

I admit - I liked it. Forgive me for being nostalgic, but you put in Buck Tuddrussel and Robot Jones, you get kudos from me. (But where was Sheep in the Big City?)

[up][up]I just saw it myself and was overall rather satisfied. It's a good love letter to classic CN... ringing a bit hollow coming from the service that actively jettisoned most of those shows completely for no reason.

[up][up][up]Red Guy did appear in a previous episode, albeit voiced by Dana Snyder instead.

I think Charlie Adler once mentioned on Twitter how he's more about being a voice director rather than being a voice actor these days. You can tell given how, in recent years, he's only done voice acting in shows where he's the voice director. I'd assume that he wouldn't reprise his old voice roles because of this.

The animation was EXTREMELY stiff. And I realized this was during the Billy and Mandy section which wasnt a Sakuga fest in the first place lol.

EDIT: But I STILL loved it, these sort of cartoons always relied on writing and voice acting anyway.

The animation to me looked fine overall, if slightly different thanks to the obvious change in medium since most of these shows ended. The only characters I think looked weird overall were Ben and Jack. Jack in particular actually had thin outlines which looks wrong on him.

Upon reflection, the Adventure Time characters also looked kinda stiff, like they were just the stock promo art of the characters wriggling a little. But none of them were ever the focus of a shot.

Pete Browngardt and Alex Kirwan talk about The Day The Earth Blew Up at Jerry Beck's Cartoon Research site.

The most surprising thing to learn in this interview is that the film only cost $15 million to make. So, needless to say, I think it'll make its budget back when all is said and done...

The budget was already mentioned in another interview. Anyway, since this is based on a TV show , a budget of 15 million dollars is fitting.

I just got out of the movie. This was something pretty special and gorgeous to behold. The animation is on a level we never get in 2D anymore. It’s a must see for sure.

I concur. I saw it as well - this is one you shouldn't miss.

Just about everything was firing on all cylinders with this one. It's amazing to think it was supposed to go to HBO Max, because it really played well in the theaters. The plot twists in this one were genuinely surprising, and there's a lot of good animation and hilarious expressions. (And look at the credits - they're filled with names you may very well recognize.)

That, plus no celebrity stunt casting (there are indeed some voices more familiar for live-action work, but they've all done a lot of voice acting as well). It was refreshing indeed to see Eric Bauza and Candi Milo credited at the beginning.

Go see it if you can. You won't regret it.

So I saw the new Looney Tunes movie. It's pretty good. It's a must watch. With that said, does it seem like the advertising for this is pretty minimal. I mean, I only saw a few people in the theater I went to. Plus, from what I heard of other people that watched it last night, there was barely anyone there also.

I'm afraid it'll be another scenario like Cats Don't Dance. Really good but unappreciated in theatres and doesn't turn a profit, but becomes a cult classic later on, possibly through Cartoon Network (or streaming, now that is a option).

There's only one person on Twitch that knows about it and that's Amy Sumisu, and that's mainly because her sister worked on it.

Did WB even bother advertising this?

Just came out of the theater. That was tremendous. Sounded like the crowd I was with (there were a few families including some kids) enjoyed it too. The reaction to Daffy being the hero got the biggest laugh.

In terms of of the Invisible Advertising, remember that this is a indie studio handling the release and they don’t have the muscle as say, WB does. Wait…

Fear it... or not.

As a reminder, the movie's only grossed $3.2 million on opening weekend so far. Anyone find that pretty low for a movie these days?
