Not everything is practical concept art.
So, if Nintendo were to let another developer have a crack at the Mario & Luigi series, would the South Park: Stick of Truth & Fractured But Whole team at Ubisoft be a good choice, seeing as how those games are already heavily influenced by the Mario RP Gs?

I don't know if they'd specifically go for the same developer team, but a Paper Mario game with the same gameplay as Fractured But Whole would be cool.
Hey, the Fractured but Whole team already has experience making RPGs about walking paper cut-outs.
Fractured but Whole is a better version of the Paper Mario formula, so Iíd be fine with Ubisoft helping with Paper Mario.
You would be fine with that, even knowing that Ubisoft puts out so many special editions of their games that you need a spreadsheet to keep track of them all?
Ubisoft tends to play nice with Nintendo, so I'm not too terribly concerned.
They wouldn't make a bunch of special versions of Paper Mario.
Hey, what classic Mario enemies do you think would make good party members? We know beta Sticker Star was going to give us a Chain Chomp partner. We've also never had a Piranha Plant partner.
How about a Toad who is also a stoic, super-serious martial artist?
You mean the Master?
A Spike would be cool. So would a Podoboo!
& Or better yet, the Toad who likes kung fu movies from Color Splash.
Justice Toad would be a hilarious partner XD He's the one with the Overdrive Gravity Boots with the power to make him stay on the ground.
I'd prefer a detective Toad. A Dry Bones would also be cool!
A magikoopa would be fun.
Chain chomp, fly guy, monty mole, there are tons of options.
All according to plan~
