Here's the Mario Kart 7 trailer.
Looks like there's a reason the game's called Mario Kart 7. Look closely in the beginning of the video. I wonder what it means.
It looks great. I wonder if courses with water hazards will be revamped since you can go underwater now.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Although Super Mario 3D Land does look great, I kinda hope the blend of 2D and 3D is either a one-off thing or kept as its own separate series from either the 2D or 3D games. I mean, I could understand why Nintendo would try to make the 3D games closer to the 2D ones, since the 2D games sell so much better, but...I like the 3D games...
Also, random thought: I wonder if Rosalina will continue to appear in Mario spinoffs, or if it was just something they did for Mario Kart Wii because of Galaxy being on the system...which also reminds me, it would be cool if there were some Galaxy-inspired tracks in Mario Kart 7.
Welcome to th:|I hope Super Mario 3 D Land will showcase just how 3D isn't just a gimmick.
There are even a few areas in 3D Land that use Forced Perspective, so, as far as I know, they're putting a lot of effort into making the 3D work.

I like the exploration from 64 and Sunshine, too (I actually liked Galaxy less than 64 and Sunshine because of that). I've got hopes that the Wii U 3D Mario will return to that openess.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Okay, so I just watched the Super Mario 3 D Land trailer again:
Anyone else notice Bowser's racoon tail?
Kind of reminds me of the part in Super Mario Land 2 when the final boss, Wario, uses the same power-up items you've been using the whole game to fight you.
Ah, so Raccoon Koopa truly is canon. I wonder: IS that a good thing... or a bad thing?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.@Komodin: I guess it depends on your definition of the Mario series' "canon."
Miyamoto himself said, IIRC, that the Mario series doesn't really have any canon aside from recurring characters and themes; the fact that Super Mario Galaxy 2 seemed to forget entirely about the first Super Mario Galaxy gave quite a bit of support to this claim.
@Folt: I don't dislike the 2D games. I like them just as much as the 3D games. I just wish the 3D games would return to exploration soon.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Saw the new video of Mario Kart 7. The 7th in that vid is your place in the race, not item.

WHY?!? WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME BUY YOUR GAMES? WHY? DON'T YOU CARE THAT I NEED MONEY?!?
Anyways, I love that theme song.
Welcome to 3D, flagpoles!
Oh wow, this really does play like a 3D classic Mario game - in the battle with Bowser you can see a Toad locked up behind him, in classic "our princess is in another castle" fashion.
Wait... Tanooki Goomba?
