Yeah, one of my current favorites, too.
My introduction to them was taking a car ride with someone playing "Drunken Lullabies" and "What's Left of the Flag" on their stereo. Later, I went and bought Within a Mile of Home and got hooked.
Apparently, of all the Celtic Punk bands, they're one of the most Celtic and least Punk of the bunch.
I've loved Flogging Molly since I picked up Drunken Lullabies in '07 and I was lucky enough to see them live in '08 at The Chance Theatre in Poughkeepsie, New York. I can't say enough good things about their albums and their performances, so I'll leave it at that and not fill the thread with too much more.
If you like them, you should give The Pogues a listen. They were active in the mid-1980s before breaking up and then reforming in 2001. They were a pretty big influence on Flogging Molly. Here's a video one of their song Streams of Whiskey with lyrics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt6osXyGJwI
Flogging Molly is probably in my top 5 favorite bands (right now at least), and i agree, they should be way more famous. I actually discovered them in youtube, I was watching some Dropkick Murphys videos (a friend recommended them) and Drunken Lullabies was in the related videos, and i also got hooked. Seeing them live would be awesome, but I don't think I'll get the chance anytime soon...
Anybody going to see them at Lollapalooza on August 7th? Since there is no way I can get from L.A. to Chicago, I hope Youtube streams Lollapalooza live like when they streamed Coachella live back in April.
By the way, I found a video of Flogging Molly dancing to "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" after one of their gigs. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKuvQm2hkUI
. I guantee that you will smile after seeing it.
I just saw them perform at Lollapalooza (through the simulcast). They were awesome and classy, as always! Here's some stuff to point out:
They performed "The Likes of You Again", "Revolution", "Swagger", "Drunken Lullabies", "Requiem for a Dying Song", "Saints and Sinners", "Float", "Oliver Boy (All of Our Boys)", "Tobacco Island", "If I Ever Leave This World Alive", "Devil's Dance Floor", "Salty Dog", "What's Left of the Flag", and "The Seven Deadly Sins".
Am I the only one who noticed the inflatable monkey in front of the stage?
They dedicated the performance to their godson, who just turned one. Aww.
I really could've sworn I saw a Luffy cosplayer in the huge crowd. I fangirled, because my favorite anime + my favorite band = Tons of win!
I was so worried that their set was going to be delayed due to rain, but, the sun shined on their performance. It wasn't until after they left the stage that I noticed that the skies darkened.
Sadly, they did not dance to "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" at the end of the set.
All in all, it was a great performance. And, as Dave King said, we'll remember this day for the rest of our lives.

This is the thread to discuss Flogging Molly, the seven-piece Irish punk rock band that should be more famous
My Flogging Molly story starts with this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrvuaTsH_qs
After I watched this video, I was like, "Holy crap, this is a great song." And, so, I bought the song "Drunken Lullabies" off of iTunes and listened to it on repeat for a time. Then, I bought "The Kilburn High Road", "Salty Dog", and "Devil's Dance Floor", and that's how I discovered my favorite band.
I have seen their performance at the Greek Theater, I have seen Youtube's live broadcast of their set at Coachella 2011 (Staying up until 1 in the morning was worth it!), and I saw them perform their latest song "Saints and Sinners" live on Conan O'Brien on Monday Night. I hope in the future I can see them live in concert and maybe even meet them.
Halifax-tan does not approve of that
