I hope so. Surely it won't get as many troubles as the actual Coney Island! -shudders-

If I am correct, this film has been in development hell for nearly 6 years. I do remember that Ralph's son Eddie bakshi had talked about getting Charlie Adler to voice one of the characters(I can only assume he's voicing this character(the one who looks like he's spitting while he talks).

Its good to hear that somebody wants to see this get off the ground, will this be released world wide in the cinemas?

It will probably only be a limited release. Adult animation is sadly a small market (Rob Zombie's The Haunted World of El Superbeasto had a grand total of two screenings before going to DVD).

[up]I always assumed that this would get released through film festivals, giving the state on how Ralph's previous projects were "messed with". Although, I think if Bakshi was going to do this theatrical wise he's going to need a miracle.

Although he might be aiming for that since there was an interview where he talked about this being a budget at a 150 million with a Pg rating. Then again, who knows.

[up]Lord of the rings(his take) was messed with as well. Although I have never saw it to say if it was good or not. If Bakshi is even interested in getting this into the cinemas(worldwide) those chances may be very unlikely.

Although, seeing how people are asking for hand-drawn animation to return it may be possibly. Although Ralph better know a good executive so that he can have full control over being screwed with again.

Whatever gets a Bakshi movie out there is a good thing.

...Oh, it's not that project he was working on with John K. years and years ago.

Wake me up when it is.

[up]The project that Taco is talking about is Bobby's girl. It was to be a feature animated film that would be a parody on the whole teen drama genre at the time. Bakshi and John were working on this while they were doing Mighty Mouse.

There was a forum that talked about Spumco stuff(that seems to be gone) and(if I remember right) John himself stated that they used actual scripts for this project. And Tri star wouldn't allow storyboard use for scripts. Nothing came out of this project due to the president of Tri star leaving. It even caused Bakshi to pitch the film again to Tri star, but the new heads couldn't see anything good with it. Concept artwork of this can be seen in book that talks about Ralph Bakshi. Can anyone get images from the book on here that show the concept art of Bobby's girl?

Never heard of Trinstar. I bet it would be easy to guess why.

He means Tri Star Pictures. And John K worked on it before Ren and Stimpy (according to Wikipedia, this was about 1986). Bizarrely enough, said executive (who would have co-financed the project) later became the CEO of the infamous PAX channel.

Oh okay.

It's just that he used "Trinstar" more than twice.

Am I the only one excited about this? Bakshi has a fandom other than...well, me?

I love his approach to film-making and what he has to say about how to work in animation. His subject matter is something I need to adjust too.

Hm, i haven't watched too much of Bakshi's work other than bits and pieces of them—the only work of his i've seen entirely is that cheesy animated adaptation of Lord of the Rings he made—although i'm sure he's much more talented that that. I also have his "Unfiltered" book, which is a great read—you know it's good when it's written well enough to make that LOTR animated film sound like a competently made film. So much great artwork, with just enough text to provide context to the images.

I'm all game for his film getting finished. I wish i could meet the guy in person and help him out on the film.

Somebody I spoke with from California claims that Bakshi showed a scene from this at the comic-con. Anyone hear who went to the con to confirm it?
