It honestly didn't deserve to die so early.
The problem bottom line was that it wasn't selling. That's not really the fault of the console itself.
That stuff wouldn't have been the fault of Nintendo and the consumers. Nintendo for not marketing the damn thing clearly enough and the audience for not buying it.
Hopefully the Switch will sell, but Nintendo will only be able to do so much (just market it rightly and get third party games), the rest is up to the consumer.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!re; getting rid of Wii U
Well, if you're positive you do not plan on buying any Wii U (or Wii) exclusives that seem unlikely to get re-released in any way on Switch or VC, then there really is no reason to keep it.
But since you already have the damned thing, might as well look around if there are enough titles that would not get re-released to justify keeping it. It's not like finding games for it will become impossible after March or anything; I still see Wii titles at stores and there is the eshop as well and 90% of retail games get a digital version there.
No, I'd never get rid of it, I'm just wondering if I should keep getting games for it and not get a Switch until later, or get a Switch and the ports for any Wii U games I'd otherwise get for the Wii U. Smash Bros. 4 and Breath of the Wild for example: I was planning on getting both of them for Wii U, but now I'm considering getting a Switch shortly after launch and getting those games for it instead.

I'd suggest keeping buying games for the Wii U.
It's unlikely that some games will be re-released.
I was playing Mario Kart with my friends earlier today on 200cc.
My one friend was pissed because he kept losing.
I don't like how competitive some of my friends can get. It's just a game, they should really just relax.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Competetiveness and calling bullshit is fine, as long as you chill about it.
Anywho, re; Wii U
Well, I'd probably buy games that I know aren't going to get ported over to The Switch for my Wii U. I'd get everything else on Switch, unless for some reason the Wii U version is somehow superior. (Which would be unlikely)
Shame Switch doesn't support two screen use, I found it handy in TPHD and Splatoon.
Which makes me wonder what Spla2n is gonna do.
I only get really upset if I'm constantly getting wrecked. If I can at least make the other person try for their victory, I'm good.

Just found this
◊ as part of a series of comics
concerning a literal console war.
I'll admit I was skeptical when I saw it was Control Alt Delete, but the full thing is actually worth checking out.
They actually take out some X-Box guys in one comic.
And rather easily at that, because the x box soldiers were too busy mocking them.
The Wii U general's comment about how they needed to stop playing the same game as the other two armies seems like a comment on the Switch.
One Strip! One Strip!I see.
It does seem to be a comment on how they won't win conventionally though.
The armies are supposed to kinda reflect the systems they are based on, so commenting that Wii U stands no chance and they gotta change gears makes sense to me.
One Strip! One Strip!

Four years is my estimate for a typical console generation anyway, give or take.
