That, and abject failure (Other M) are the only circumstances where I've seen Nintendo prices go down. Otherwise, they hold steady. Twilight Princess was still $70 four years after it came out (I should know; that's what and when I paid for it).

Gonna have to concur with [up] on this one, with the addendum that eShop is sometimes discounted. Notably on your birthday week.

Wait, really? Huh. Might have to look into some games this February then.

You get a discount for just one game out of a tiny list. Don't be too excited or anything.

I honestly might go for Bot W on the Switch.

Although I might also get the Wii U version as I also want the Game Cube version of TP despite having the Wii and Wii U versions.

Re: Price Drops:

I highly doubt the games will go down in price. Nintendo games are unique in that they keep their value over time.

And now that's two of my favorite Wii U games that must be scratched.

My Xenoblade X disc won't work. I tried cleaning in off with a bit of water and a washcloth, but even then it still wouldn't work properly. The error says it's a dirty disc, but I assume it's a scratch. What do I do? Is there a way to confirm this?

I bought a faulty copy of Star Fox Assault that wouldn't work for the same reasons, sadly. Perhaps you can try your hand at buying another (likely used) copy somewhere.

Some game stores offer a disc repair service, though I never tried one myself.

-Someone- I know left the disc out of its box for actual months. I see little scratches, but it doesn't seem to be necessarily more than normal, so maybe it's just stubbornly dirty? My WWHD disc has even fewer stretches, but that one works even less.

I've had cases of really beat up looking PS 1 discs somehow working, but then another one wouldn't for some reason.

It has to do with whether the scratch is only on the plastic covering or actually reaches the data layer. It is very difficult to tell exactly how deep a scratch is just by looking at it.

As it's my birthday this month, I can confirm how small the list of discounted games are. Much of the titles are stuff I either already own or aren't as interested in as others. Only one I could conceivably pick from the bunch is Paper Jam.

[up]Is Paper Jam any good from what you've heard?

I've also had my birthday recently, so I still have Dream Team and Majoras Mask to work though first, but it's on sale for quite cheap so I've been considering picking it up to play after those.

[down]Thanks, I'll probably pick it up then. I've still got some spare cash from my birthday, and it's probably the cheapest it'll be for a while.

[up]Wish I knew firsthand. I've heard some good things, and the gameplay certainly looks fun as hell. I still say conceivably because I'd still need the moolah first to even buy it. And the job hunt still isn't kind to me.

About that Wii U ending production news:

a day or so after Eurogamer reported that, Nintendo went to this Japanese media site to say that that's simply not true and that the Wii U's production will continue.

Why no one even bothered to look into this more is a mystery to me.

They're ending. Nintendo can't publicly admit that they're ending until the Switch is out, but when you're not even shipping a million in a year empty PR statements don't mean a thing.

Huh, guess they really don't care. Not that it's new for Nintendo to deny something only to confirm it a week later *cough3DSXLcough*.

Maybe they like to be in control of things when it comes to some stuff. Goodness knows how things can snowball out of control when someone takes a source and says one minor slip up about it.

This is a sad (and late) fourth birthday for the Wii U.

You might be the only one who cares.sad

Wii U continues to die a quiet death, but hopefully it's brother the Switch will carry on it's legacy.
