That's because this wiki doesn't use Unicode. Yes, yes, And That's Terrible. But it's not changing any time soon. Use a URL shortener like tinyurl to compress the links.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think the OP refers to using Unicode in the link name rather than the link URL.. Example down the Math page:
The code I posted here:
The wikicode that sprouts such abomination in the page:
Of course, substituting for the actual Entity doesn't work either as I've shown above and as I assume the text was inserted initially (I've seen some Unicode characters be substituted upon page saving; particularly noticeable when one edits in Spanish). There, URL shorteners absolutely do not work.
For the record, this worked at some point in very early 2010 when I first write references to the Nidoran article, where the symbols for male and female were used for links.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Oh, you mean using Unicode in a Pot Hole? Yeah, that's not supported. I'm not sure what gave anyone the impression that we ever supported Unicode, though — we don't, period. Never have.

There's a few examples halfway down Math, and I know I've seen it other places.
An easy fix.... right?
