That would be annoying if someone's referring to a post ten above theirs. Besides, if it's only slightly before theirs, people can count, and if it's more than that, quoteblock or address them by name. I think the current system is fine.
And being ninja'd is something that happens. It's not as if it's particularly hard to edit a post.
You'll have to wait for Eddie, though, since he would be the one coding it.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”![]()
it's just an idea it's not the end of the world if it gets rejected( infact I think it will most likely be) But sometimes when the thread is too active is hard to arrow...I tell that from experience.
Of course when the thread is slow it's easy as you say but even then...

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.An automated arrow button that prefixed the posting form with the markup, IMHO I'd rather see it do something like @Tropername if it has to do more than two arrows. Or maybe even combine them?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I usually just use "
xN," where N is the number of posts if it's more than two. It would be cool if you could make it do that automatically, though. Especially if you're playing/running a game, and you're the only guy not using a regular keyboard, and it takes three seconds just to move the cursor two spaces back to fix a typo.

...What about an arrow system?
We select the post we want to target and then our post puts arrows according to how far is the post.
For example If I want to target a post that is two posts before mine. The system automatically puts two arrows to indicate such post we are answering to?.
While it's already possible to do this manually, there is the problem that we need to constantly reedit our post because someone posted while we were writing.Or when we miscount the number of posts And then we need to add/ remove arrows.
Opinions ?
