Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens. In the words of the once-great merton,
I have heard The Cave far too many times for my liking. It seems to be one of those songs that was unusually popular in Australia for some unknown reason.
They're competent instrumentalists; I can tolerate them when they're backing Laura Marling.
Yeah pretty much. My main beef with Mumford & Sons isn't that they're bad, per se. It's that they put on this pretence of being down-to-earth and folky when they are nothing of the sort. If you want to listen to some decent British folk, listen to Pentangle or John Renbourn. If you want Indie-Folk done well, listen to Fleet Foxes or Fanfarlo. There are other bands that do this schtick far better, and don't make such a big deal of it.
Also they alone are responsible for the incredible rise in the number of muppets wandering around the UK in vintage 60s grey waistcoats over long sleeve shirts. For which I will never forgive them.
Also, what Wicked/Merton said. True facts.

Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!I dunno, I don't really care about their image.
Their music is pleasing to my ears, and that's all that really matters to me.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens. It's not their image specifically that annoys me, it's the way they use it in contrast to the music they produce. It's the fact that other people do the same genre better and yet they feel the need to make it their main gimmick, so that in the end the music and the image are both a slightly limp imitation of what they're trying to emulate.
They write good pop songs. I'm willing to give them that. The tunes are catchy and better than most other popular things at the moment. But as a fan of the genre they're influenced by and borrowing heavily from, it kinda makes me slightly sad.

Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!I find their songs to be repetitive, self-plagiarizing and trite.
And when you have other musicians in the scene — Johnny Flynn
, Emmy the Great
, Laura Marling
- making engaging, intelligent music, their overwhelming popularity is depressing.
Personally, I love them. Given, I don't typically like folk music, but Marcus has a nice voice and the lyrics are good. I bought Sigh No More back in December and at the time I was dealing with a lot of drama in my life. That album was comforting to me. Especially "Timshel".
We're going to spread this shit like Nutella.Mumford and Sons is my top band that isn't Flogging Molly or Fall Out Boy. They're one of those bands that have no bad songs, as I have no least favorite songs by them.
I can't wait for the Wuthering Heights movie to come out, as Mumford and Sons did two new songs for that movie. Can't wait to hear them.

I've recently got their first album, and I've got to say that the band is completely fantastic. I really like Little Lion Man, The Cave, and Sigh No More, but the rest of the songs are amazing as well.
I think this is one of the first bands where I can honestly say I like every song they've ever made.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."
