So I wasn't around at the time and I'm very disappointed in all of you for the total lack of "Jack, do you remember what tomorrow is?" jokes.

Love Jack/Rose. MGS 2 is great for both its deep themes AND its soap opera drama. The final scene of them together at the end of MGS 2 was perfect and tied it all together so well.

Glad they both lived happily ever after and nothing bad happened after this.

But wait what about Raiden becoming a unstoppable Vigilante capable of suplexing a industrial building?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh.... I miss the days when that game was bashed for not being Metal Gear Solid. I felt better for liking it in spite of the criticism. This "vindicated by history" crap is for the birds. :/

[up][up]I fail to see how that interferes with them getting a happy family life.

As for missing the 30th, sorry, but

Metal Gear... had a hard life. It needs some time to rest.

They might be snogging and Raiden accidentally goes into Zandatsu Mode out of reflex. Rose spends the holidays hospitalized because Jack is too trigger-happy to show emotion.

No, really though, being a badass super-ninja vigilante probably isn't doing wonders for his family life. I'd wager if a sequel had ever been made they'd probably be in hiding. Raiden seems to have random attack squads after him now.

So just turn Rose into a cyborg too. Then she can go join her hubby in hacking apart PMC's into a trigintillion pieces and stealing their glowy blue spines.

...that could work.

I will say this about Revengeance: it finally scratched the cyborg ninja itch I've had since Solid. I always wondered why there were like 3 ninjas and like 7-10 attempts at a Metal Gear. Okay, fine, obviously the ninjas cost a lot of money and in Frank's case the process was pretty invasive.

But you can't tell me that in this awesome future where we've harnessed time travel technology into electronic cigars back in the eighties, that it's too expensive to make awesome, breakdancing cyborg ninjas - but there's just enough in the budget to mass-produce bipedal, turret-armed war machines and program them to sound and act like cows; no, somebody actually took the time to figure out how to make them sh-t, we focused our efforts on getting that right, but nobody took the time to figure out how to make Genji Shimada's more cost-effective.

Seriously, look at Sam, with barely any cybernetics. Look at Sundowner. Given the sheer lack of ninjas like Raiden at the time of GOP you probably could have taken a country with the Winds of Destruction and there wouldn't have been a Solid Snake around to stop you.

Well apparently after the collapse of the military industrial complex everybody sat down and realized just how f'cking cool ninjas are, so now everybody from the war orphans to the cops to the election candidates is sporting cybernetic technology. Like even the cops are walking around with electric swords and sh't.

My headcanon is that somebody Youtube'd Raiden spinning those GEKKO's around on his legs, which finally got people going, "wait, these ninjas are stupidly effective and they seem to kill Metal Gears left and right. Maybe we should fund that project instead."

Well the Gekkos were made by the Patriots, who were at that point devising crazy new ways to keep the war economy going.

When in doubt, blame it on the Patriots' paranoia about potential threats to their agenda and/or flawed programming causing to suppress R&D into the technologies in question... because that's actually canon.

It is. The Patriots were masters of science, considering all their secret tech!

Hell isn't it theorized Zone Of The Enders is the future of the Metal Gear universe?

Zone of the Enders is so technologically advanced only because of Metatron. You'd notice that the vast majority of the sweet super-tech is strictly made by the factions operating on Mars and Jupiter, where the bulk of Metatron deposits are. The Earth-based UN is rather unremarkable in comparison.

So David Hayter is returning to voice Solid Snake.

Smash Bros just dropped and they're bringing back every character, Snake included.

[up]W 00 T!!!

Though... if they were to ever release a Big Boss DLC skin or something... I sure wouldn't mind having Keifer Sutherland reprise the role. Plus, it would make sense, given that both Liquid and Solidus have noticeably different voices despite being supposed clones of the original BB.

[up]Guess they had to compromise on something.

Couldn't fit the amount of dedicated pixels and textures to perfectly sculpt Snake's world-renowned ass while still having a roster of 64+ characters, so something had to give!

[up] So...what do you guys think the deal is with Jordan Vogt-Roberts' MGS art showcase? Is it really just sharing art to celebrate the loveliness of Metal Gear or is it to build hype for a major update regarding the MGS movie after the 31st day?

I'm sure it's just the former, but when it comes to Metal Gear, there's always something to catch you off guard...

Also, regarding Snake's glorious return to Smash, would you guys be interested in a stage based on Mother Base where the landscape changes like in Delfino Plaza and Skyloft or would you be satisfied with just Shadow Moses Island, but it gets updated to feature Sahelanthropus alongside REX, RAY, and Gekko?

Oh and they function as stage hazards. And can we also get Love Deterrence, Sins of The Father, Old Snake, Infinite Loop, the best is yet to come, the vocal version of snake eater, and all of Revengeance's vocal tracks (oh and if they can get the rights the liscensed tracks from phantom pain)

inb4 Jordan pulls off the most Kojima thing ever, with the movie being a post-modern satire about fanservice in bad video game movies and that people should just let a dead franchise stay that way.

[up] Ooh, or maybe Jordan dedicates the first 10 minutes to some original character rookie and you think they'll be the main character instead of Snake, but then the original character gets brutally tortured or killed to criticize/deconstruct the notion of bad spotlight stealing original characters like Alice from the Resident Evil movies.

But then Snake shows up and it's like "You see?! You don't need some spotlight hogging OC Mary Sue person if you make an effort to make the actual main character from the games work!"

That'd be a great "eff you" to how people tackle video game movies.

Post-modern satire is pretty uninspiring at this point.

The idea of deconstructing video games inside of the game itself has been done to death now. Undertale, Bastion, Braid, Spec-Ops, Time Fcuk, Far Cry, Stanley Parable, Prey, etc.

Making the player think about what they're doing, outlining the pointless cruelty or inescapable narrative constraints the player endures, and questioning in-game objectives and their consequences really isn't original anymore. Nobody is being clever by pointing out that most audiences don't truly pay attention to the media they consume. It's no brilliant statement that players are led to believe that a health bar is a health bar. It is no secret that most people who read instructions on how to use a chainsaw tend to believe those instructions are honest and will prevent them from harming themselves.

I'm kind of irritated by games that try to pull the "but you were the real monster all along!" trick, or, "did you think you were the guy from the opening movie? Ha, pay attention, it's so obvious that the red locker you passed in the fifth level of the game was a symbolic representation of the character's fractured state of mind! You should have known he/she was an Unreliable Narrator!" It's gotten to a point where even the last-minute plot twist that the person you were helping was actually a villain all along - cough Bioshock cough - is just plain cliche. note

There's no deconstruction of video game mechanics or techniques Metal Gear could still do in it's current medium that hasn't been done already.

I don't know anything about any of those games except Spec Ops. I'm not really a fan of shooters but my RPG PC'ss kept getting compared to Walker so I had to learn. It sounds like a really neat game and a lot of people were talking about interesting stuff because of it so I'm down with that.

Of course some people feel it's a totally unfair "gotcha" moment. If you ever played the original Nier, it is pretty much the same yet nobody shits on it. Both it and Spec Ops force you through deception to do things then say "haha! DON'T YOU FEEL BAD?! And I'm like "nope."

It's interesting because it sparks conversation but that doesn't mean you have to agree with the "intended aesop." Sort of like how I've always thought The Patriots made really good points.

Raiden: I'll decide for myself what to believe and what to pass on!

Colonel: But is that even your own idea?

Rose: Or something Snake told you?

As they said, that's the proof of Raiden's incompetence right there. He lost the argument and he lost it hard. MGS 2 wants to push one argument and side but I never totally agreed with it.
