This makes sense, as he seems to be very enthusiastic about MGS5 and was also enthusiastic about Peace Walker.
Though I have the nagging feeling that he just loves the whole series and is just pretending to resent it to troll the fans.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. He's never said he resents the series though.
What he's said is he wants to do other things with his life and career before he dies and be able to trust Metal Gear to another generation.
He wants to make a sequel to Snatchers, but can't, because people want him to make more Metal Gears.
He wants to do something with Policenauts or Zone of the Enders, or, god forbid, a new IP but can't, because people want more Metal Gear.
He was going to turn Metal Gear Solid 4 over to a new generation at Kojima Productions, and stay in a strictly advisory capacity instead of being in the thick of everything as a director, so he could work on other things, but then somebody started sending him death threats over that, so.
The original Metal Gear Solid: Rising went down the tubes and thank god for Platinum Games.
He wants the Metal Gear series to continue to have games made for it. What he doesn't want is to have to be the director and be involved in every single aspect every single time because it's too much work and he wants to do something else for a change.
Silent Hills will probably be good for him mentally in that regard, at least.
I mean.
The P.T. trailer has a line that we've identified as seemingly being from the perspective of the Silent Hill franchise, about doing the same thing over and over, and dying of boredom, and coming back and bringing some new toys with him.
But that could just as easily be from Kojima's perspective after the past over a decade.
So it's kind of like Sakurai's feelings about Smash Bros., huh?
(I can Metal Gear too, right?)
Now I kinda want them to make a game together, most likely taking pot shots at the gaming industry for embracing "sequelization".

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Starring Original Character Blolid Blake, the sneakiest and most acrobatic fighter in the world.
Confirmation on the identity of the guy on fire.
◊ It's Volgin. He died on fire
and BB is probably hallucinating him showing up due to extreme pain reminding him of their torture session.
Reminder of when BB first sees the man on fire:
