I honestly wish that Raiden had become the new main character. Instead they listen to the fans and kill him off in MGS 4...
visit my blog!Okay wait, so was the plot summary I read wrong or something? Cuz I recall hearing that Raiden died to save Snake in MGS 4.
If Raiden is indeed the main character now, then I might resume my faith in the franchise.
EDIT: Okay, I have to ask: Raiden from MGS 2 versus Raiden from Mortal Kombat versus Raiden from Fatal Fury... if these three were to have a fight, who would win?

visit my blog! That was when it was MGS:R. Now it's MGR:R, which takes place 7 years afterwards. This is why Cyborgs are rampant and Raiden can pick Metal Gears up and toss them around.
The reason for the sudden change in personality is Raiden isn't being stealthy anymore, he's blatantly killing soldiers and can't cope anymore, so he's regressed into his "Jack the Ripper" personality.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally! So I started playing Metal Gear Solid 3 recently. It's not bad. The cutscenes (and graphics in general) are great for PS 2, although they drag on far too long. The gameplay, however, is not. The overhead camera is clunky, especially in the boss fights where you actually need to aim at the boss. The Fear is incredibly frustrating for that reason, since he's mostly invisible and when you need to aim at him the first-person camera is facing the wrong way.
"Steel wins battles. Gold wins wars."Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is much less clunky because it actually has a controllable camera. I got the Essential Collection box thing for the PS 2 so it came with Subsistence (3) and Substance (2).
Plus if you get the 2-disc edition of Subsistence you get official English releases of the original MSX games—both of which are good.
That being said, I liked MGS 3 but didn't feel it was as awesome as people made out, certainly not "best in the series" awesome (I hold that MGS 2 is better. My IRL best friend holds that MGS 1 is the best).
visit my blog!Just defeated Sniper Wolf in Metal Gear Solid 1 and would appreciate some advice on okay, yours truly sucks at minigames, so I kept dying at Ocelot's torture. I saved myself some time and just surrendered, although I've heard this understandably yields a very bad ending. I saved right before and planned on going back to play through again when I could beat the stupid minigame. Working on breaking out of the jail cell now.
Please be the awesome Tropers I know you are and spoiler tag anything beyond that until my noob self goes away. Thanks.
It's not worth the traumatic flashback when you see the bloodstains. I'M SORRY MERYL. THE O BUTTON ON MY CONTROL IS JAMMED, I'M SORRY. But a unique item sounds cool. And holy crap they have the worst prison guards ever in this game
Thanks, I'd heard that you receive a "bad" ending but didn't know if it was like a Castlevania bad ending (screws you out of three hours of gameplay) or just bad in the sense that it wasn't as happy. Seems like the latter so far. I thought MGS would be overly cruel and have Sniper Wolf be waiting at the same spot, but no. Part of me wondered if you could even beat the torture, thanks for clarifying that you can. Turns out I just suck at pressing a button over and over again. Explains why I'm bad at Call of Duty.

You can actually use Turbo fire with a controller that has that capability in order to endure the torture. It works damn well even when you're playing in Extreme and I kept track on how many shocks you recieve per session thanks to Ocelot.
Very Easy (Not that I ever played the game on that mode except for the lulz):2 Easy: 3 Normal: 4 Hard: 5 Extreme: 6
I use a technique with my middle finger so that it's less tiring and it gives me a bit more quickness for the torture. That said, you're gonna have to be like a boss if you want to endure it in Extreme.
Here's how I defeated the torture:
Get a pencil. No seriously, for some reason its much easier to slide the pencil back and forth over the O button than it is to press it with your thumb. It was almost too easy.
I've heard this works with other implements, such as spoons, as well. Be aware that you might be leaving scratches on the area around your O button if you do this. You can think of them as battle scars.

So after hearing rumors of another Metal Gear Solid, my breath hastened in my chest! But here is what I request: No more Snake.
I love this series because it shows the humanity of war and the effects of PTSD in a way no other avenue has really. As I either played or watched through the series, I felt like I was almost breaking down with Snake. It was a beautiful journey with characters that I absolutely love. In fact, I love Snake so much I want them to leave him alone!
Now, that being said, I don't want the series to go away. I think another game coming from Big Boss' perspective or her history would be freaking nerdgasmicaly delicious if done right.
That is the next game I would love to see.
