We'll see what happens when he reviews something with a black protagonist.
My various fanfics.I watched his State of the Channel video. He mostly just states his intention to change the format a little (saying he was feeling kind of bleh about his "usual" style and wanted to make something that gels more with his sense of humor, hopefully allowing him to have more fun making videos) and hopes that his viewers will like it. I'm watching his Vanilla Ice vid right now, and so far it's pretty funny (or at least on par with his last few videos).
Now, I unsubbed from him after the incident, but I still enjoy his content. Despite what's happened I felt like he did a good job separating his personal views from his content, and I can still watch his old stuff without feeling like I'm being reminded of everything that's happened lately. That said, I completely understand anyone who's done with the man at this point.
In any case, I recommend not venturing into his comment sections, if you haven't been doing that already (yeah, yeah, I know most default to never looking at them, but I always have, at least depending on the video I'm watching). It's pretty much what you'd expect nowadays.
'd somewhat.

I don't really get involved in politics anymore, so I have nothing to say about the controversy. I also haven't watched his new video yet either. However I really hope that at some point he goes back to talking about video games. It's gotten a little dull how his past 5 videos were just about movies. I dunno, I feel like his content and style of humor shines more when he's talking about a quirky, bad or just plain weird video game {Or a cheesy 90's kids horror show} instead of some mediocre movie, even though I loved his Foodfight and Animated Titanic videos.

His intro is still about VG...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.His new video is going to be at 2 million views soon.
The internet sure has a short term memory loss. I wonder how many of those people have long forgotten what happened.
Ancediote, but i know a few that got really angry over his views and then immediately watched his new video almost as if nothing happened.

People haven't forgotten, neither will they forget,it's just they want to be entertained without worrying about his views
New theme music also a boxRight. Plus he still had a large number of subscribers despite losing many of them leaving his channel during the controversial.
And like I said, he did a good job keeping his political views out of his videos, and from what I can gather, a lot of viewers don't follow his Twitter or anything like that, they just watch his uploads.
All this adds up to him retaining a lot of his viewership, and a lot of viewers not knowing or not caring about anything other than being entertained by him. Or are watching in spite of knowing.
Really, the big takeaway I've gotten is that Jon went from being a (relatively) big You Tube celeb to a controversial one.
Anyway, having watched both his vids, it kind of feels like Jon is more... rattled? It seemed like he was beating himself up and using more self-depreciating humor than he used to.
Or maybe it's just me.
Rattled?
I'd say so,his reputation is in tatters,Normal boots will have nothing to do with him,the guys making Yooka-Laylee removed his voice from their game and lot of people unsubscribed from his channel
New theme music also a boxI still think Jon Tron is hilarious. I don't think any other You Tube channel makes me laugh as hard as Jon Tron's. However, after the controversy, I decided to stop watching his videos because I felt like I didn't want to support him anymore. I watched his update on the status of the channel to see what it was about (and I was laughing all the way through it), but I'm not gonna resubscribe and watch his videos again anytime soon.
I mean I don't know if I'm just seeing things in some attempt to gain catharsis in knowing that he realizes (on some level) that he fucked up or if he's actually rattled enough and it's obvious to anyone.
(just piggybacking of this) The only reason I watched his new videos (and decided to unlurk and say something here) was because my brother pretty much doesn't care what happened, remained subbed, noticed the new videos, and watched them while we were watching him play the Dissidia demo. If he hadn't done that, I probably would've continued to lurk here until I heard enough from you guys to decide if I wanted to watch it on my own.
Generally, if my brother saw something I liked, I'd go and watch it again myself to add a Like or something, but I still have very mixed feelings regarding Jon (though admittedly part of it is due to how my brother reacted). Even though his new stuff was just as funny and didn't have anything in them to actively remind me of the controversy, it was still there in the back of my head, dampening my enjoyment.
...I'm just going to wait to see what his "new format" will be before making a decision on whether or not I'll actively watch his videos anymore.
I've definitely sworn him off, and while I've done my best to not watch anything related to him during what's happened [aside from one or two rewatches of two old videos], but I'm kind of morbidly curious to see how things have affected him content-wise. After the Cool as Ice review, I'm calling it quits there. I started to watch it for old times' sake, and already the first joke's rubbed me the wrong way, but I'm going to finish it and put it to bed.
Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMSo I've been thinking... Jon's movie reviews aren't as funny or engaging as his video game reviews. Not all of them, mind you. Stuff like that animated Titanic movie or "Foodfight" makes for a brilliant review, but then again, these movies are any reviewer's bread'n'butter: they're easy to make jokes about. To compare, Jon's reviews of games like "Nightshade", which you have to really study to talk, let alone crack actual funny jokes about, show a more confident Jon as well as Tron. Hope he comes into his own with movies. Or at least stops choosing the ones that the Nostalgia Critic already did. Although this must be hard nowadays.
Nonsense is better than no sense at all.Well, apparently, he's going to be mixing up his formula from here on, so only he knows what we're getting next.
Not really; just pick something that didn't come out last week.
Don't mean to necro the thread, but, say what you will about the man, but I always find his Christmas remix of his theme to be the most soothing thing ever. It just feels you with the holiday cheer:
too early
Honestly, I'm excited for Jon to review non-game and non-movie stuff. I think his shtick works really well with ads and stuff he can review "en mass" (like the anti-drug games or the Disney bootlegs videos). And some people love watching infomercials because they're so bad so maybe he'll attract a bigger audience for that.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyFor this Halloween, Jon makes the Frankenstein's Monster of meats: the turducken!

WTF even is Jon's content anymore?
I always wondered how you fit a chicken inside a duck, then fit That inside a turkey. Turns out you take out the bones first.
He did say he was going to move into non-game/movie reviews. Apparently Frankenstein Food was the next logical step.

GIVE ME YOUR FACEThe draw to Jontron, has always been about it's humor being surreal, the prop comedy, skits, and wacky editing more than anything about the content of the thing the video is about. Not that he doesn't make some insightful critique in his videos, but that seems like a much smaller part of them compared to just generally riffing on stuff, and doing comedy skits. If he goes really in-depth to analyze something it's usually an isolated moment.
The final hallway, and SEGA on drugs skits barely had any game in them, and I remember them being big hits.

I only watched the video on the state of the channel, not his review of Cool as Ice. To sum it up for the people who don't wanna give Jon clicks: he's been gone for so long because he's made three new videos apparently but he wasn't satisfied with any of them. I'm thinking he's gonna change the style up sometime soon, which...please for the love of god, just don't let it be into politics.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
