Eddie's pic of the twins is good, but I also like that close-up pic in the link that focuses on their faces.
I know the chances of this are pretty much nil, but it'd be even better if we could make this a looping animated GIF that was, say, 10 seconds of them looking at you and then one frame of the blood-splattered hallway with their corpses.

We don't use gifs for page images anymore, except for True Art Is Incomprehensible.
The Shining twins are the epitome of this trope, and casual visitors are going to recognize them. As much as I love animation, there are too few live action pics here.
Besides, the man himself likes it.

Definitely The Shining close up for me.
Very creepy. (I'm worried that the one on the left is actually a young Aphex Twin.)

Definitely The Shining. I don't think it's Fan Myopia, since it's very reasonable to expect people to jump to that particular scene (that's all you need to know about The Shining really apart from the axe and "all work and no play" scenes).
I've always found it creepy even before watching the film. And I'm not even really fond of it. (Also: the context makes it less creepy for me, because it makes it obvious.)
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. They seem a bit more creepy to me. (the blood on the wall is a big help)
I don't know why but The Shining one seems a little goofy in a still photograph like they dip into slightly comedic part of Uncanny Valley (its probably because their faces don't seem fully formed). Movement the scene is scary as shit just the stills don't do it for me.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!That's definitely the best picture of the Black Lagoon twins. However, I still support the Shining twins due to:
- Notability.
- The Black Lagoon pose gives a nod to the notability point.
- Unlike drawn images, we can more unambiguously deduce that they are twins.
- I personally find it creepier. It's not quite creepy but slightly off. It's like a creepy valley. The Black Lagoon one obviously has "creepy" signs all over it, so much that it dulls the effect.
You know, personally speaking.
All the Black Lagoon pictures are good enough for Image Links.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. But the "twins" from The Shining aren't really an example. Like I said, I've only read the book and the movie could have changed things, but in the book Grady's daughters are of different ages, so aren't twins, creepy, yes but not twins.
Ah, yes. I remember reading that they're just sisters in the original. The actresses however were twins. So I'm not sure if Kubrick changed this.

- If you bring notability in question, it is a good time to think over if it is a good idea. Notability should have no place in a Image Picking thread. It is meaningless.
- Fair point. But I don't know where the 'drawn image' is coming from. This part makes no sense or whatever. Being animation has nothing to do with they possibly not looking twins. It is their (apparent) gender that confuses things.
- Well, personal input. Furthermore, in a illustrative image, the more obvious, the best. If it is clear we were supposed to find creepy, "being" creepy is not really a factor. I am not convinced The Shining twins image tells me I am "supposed" to find them creepy.

Assuming we don't disqualify the Shining image;
- It's not really meaningless; that's not how we measure how an image is good or bad, but it does help to illustrate a concept whenever a significant portion of the audience is familiar with some of the aspects. This is everyone's last resort in IP whenever no visual shorthand is enough. ("We can assume everyone knows Darth Vader/Supes/Hitler...")
- Only Six Faces. Some animated shows subvert it, most don't. Twins look alike. This means that even in relative complexity they are visually very similar. Drawn images often simplify things to the point that this similarity is not unique to twins.
- Fair enough. It was meant as a personal assessment, I don't expect people to assign any weight to it. In short, I find the horror elements in the Black Lagoon image narmy. It's scary in a B-movie-grade way * , not in a, well, Shining-level way.
But like I said, it's not meant to be an overly objective take, and we should wait for other tropers to decide whether we still count the Grady girls.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
Really getting tired of you constantly using Only Six Faces as a reason not to use drawn images.
They're the same height, have the same hair and eye color, and the only gender identifier is hair length. We don't even know their real genders. Thats part of what makes them so creepy.
I'm actually for trying to find examples other than these two sets.
Hansel and Gretel
◊ are creepy as eff, but not really supposed to be in context.
So? It is most certainly valid criticism. Mind you, I don't think it's much of a disadvantage, but we needed a tie-breaker.
Playing the hurt card doesn't nullify the fact that Only Six Faces is, and always will be, a potential weak point in using stylized drawings for illustrative purposes. So drawn images are disadvantaged? Well, mildly. Nobody should give a crumpet. Literature and music are far more severely disadvantaged. We cannot change that.
It does?

Doesn't look creepy to me it looks like the art style of that era.

- Yes, it is. You are dangerously sounding as a Fan Myopic here.
- How many animation you actually watch? Where this 'most' come from? Beside, face is not the only indicator here. Even most, if not all Only Six Faces shows I watch (and I watch a lot of these), make their twins and not twins quite obviously. It don't matter the origins of the animation either, btw. This goes both for Anime and Western Animation. The Black Lagoon twins have many indications of 'twiness', that is why people know they are twins. It is not just the fact they have the same face (and Black Lagoon is not a Only Six Faces anime, anyway).
- Narmy or not, do you agree the 'creepy' feeling is there, even if you are not creeped out yoursef?

Crown Description:
Picking a New image for Creepy Twins

Ah, yeah, I forgot to mention... I haven't seen The Shining either. I'm open to more suggestions, but right now I think the Shining image is best.

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.
