I agree with the OP, the twins from The Shining would be perfect.

As do I.

A boy and a girl can't be identical twins. Except in fiction.

Their gender was never reveled. One of them uses a wig, as I said. Furthermore, the fact it doesn't happen except on fiction doesn't matter. It only matter if the viewers can identify the twins as twins. Half-Identical Twins exist because people can identify a couple of twins of different genders as 'identical'.
Fair enough, and sorry about that. Half-Identical Twins is just a pet peeve of mine, as you've probably guessed.
Is anyone other than me suggesting alternate images or will we put The Shining ones up?
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. Please don't. As I said, not creepy enough. Nothing against this particular example, as long they are enough creepy for the trope, which your suggestion is not.
Here some Black Lagoon suggestions (from Google): [1]
◊, [2]
◊.
Personally, I think they are sufficiently similar to one get the "twins" part, but I admit the Half-Identical Twins thing may work against it (they are probably the same gender, but is not like you can know this by looking).

Doesn't get much better than this.
◊
I have no idea why you would think those Black Lagoon people are twins.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI disagree. They don't look much 'creepy' to me. And the image quality is lacking. It certainly can get better then this. Even if you don't use Blacklagoon (I don't think they are the bet example out there, anyway, I just can't think any other right now).
Also Half-Identical Twins trope exist for a reason. People can identify a couple of different gender as 'twins' as long as they are similar enough. These two are clearly twins, in my view, because they are identical, both in face and body structure. The only difference is the hair.

They look plenty creep to me.
You're right on image quality. This is better

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyAre you talking about The Shining twins? "Kind of weird" is not quite 'creepy', in my opinion.
Btw, I am not saying this is a bad image. I wouldn't object if it was already in the page nor I will object it to enter an eventual crowner. I just think we can do better. While there is some 'creepyness' in there, I find it is too 'meh' to illustrate the trope correctly.
Whatever. I meant I wouldn't open a thread to change it. Since the thread is already opened anyway, there is no reason for us to not try to do better. And, personally, I think the Black Lagoon (whose pictures I already provided) is 'better' at any rate. I would want at last a crowner now. Preferably after more pictures are suggested.
I still think The Shining twins are perfect. Especially the one on the right.
A GIS turns up mostly Shining pics (and amusingly, a few of the Olsen twins).

I, too, support the Shining twins. Creepy doesn't require bloodstains or ridiculously huge axes.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish. It's hard to think of this trope and not immediately jump to The Shining twins, which I do like as a trope pic. That said, as a trope pic it does miss out on what made them truly freaky in the movie: that we knew Danny's family was alone in the hotel, and that a previous caretaker had murdered his twin girls there.
Here's
a closeup of their expressions, might be creepier with the partial smile and indifference.
It's probably not as good a pic since it's of a pair of dolls, but maybe these
Living Dead Dolls?

You see, I've never watched this movie, so I do know nothing of the context of it. Maybe it is why I don't find they all that creepy. I mean, now I just learned they were supposed to be dead. That is creepy all by itself. But is not shown in the picture in any way. Are you all who are suggesting The Shining twins sure you are not being effected by Fan Myopia?
About the dolls. I actually find them creepier then the The Shining twins. But, they are dolls. They could be just the same model put together.
The scene is iconic. I say the one with the bizzarre camera angles is creepier on its own. And the dolls are creepy but are dolls allowed?

Crown Description:
Picking a New image for Creepy Twins

The benefit to using identicals is that it's always obvious that we're dealing with twins. However in the current image not only are the twins franternal but masked in shadow so it's impossible to even see that they're related, The page quote is actually pretty poor for a quote, it could be spoken by a Hive Mind as opposed to twins. But the scene that quote is from is an excellent visual representation of the trope with the Creepy Child sisters lost in an Uncanny Valley of symmetry. The question then comes to which image we use(ignoring water marks for now). In this one
◊ the creepiness is emphasized by the camera angles but the twins are smaller in frame. In this one
◊ the twins are more visible but less creepy. What does everyone think?
