Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

...I never knew that it wasn't included in the first place, although it's hardly surprising.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. So a mixed bag? Some good, some bad?
I'm not sure if this vid has been posted before, but feels very, VERY, relevant:
I find it incredibly and disturbingly hypocritical that for all DeSatans condemnations of LGBT community being groomers and pedophiles, Florida is actually the one of the most popular states for child beauty pageants, three words that made me sick even typing.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Well, something you have to remember
Every accusation is a confession.
It's important to remember that the Right really hates the idea of seeing children as independent people with their own inner lives. They're "protecting children"...from the tyranny of being treated as anything other than the possessions of the parents.
Not Three Laws compliant.Narcissist parents are a good chunk of the Republican voting base or so I hear.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The same people who screams like a bunch of banshees about "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" don't seem to have a problem with lifting child labor restrictions, leaving children malnourished both in and out of school, forcing them to carry rapists' children, and not doing a damn thing about school shootings.
Hell, why bother with passing all those LGBT oppression laws. Why couldn't they just send their oh so powerful thoughts and prayers instead?
/smh
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. It's something that's always worth remembering: the level of rights they give to the unborn are just enough to strip rights from women. That means that as soon as a baby is born, rights have to be immediately stripped from it in order to bring it into line with the (limited) rights of minors.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn.
But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you.
No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.
Yes, I know it's unoriginal and lazy, shaddup.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. This vid feels relevant. For those of you who can't watch the whole thing, skip to 50:43 mark.
Let me be honest here and say that I really hate drags, mostly because of my (admittedly a bit stuffy) personal taste and I also hate the likes of clowns, mimes, kabukis, etc. But goddamn, never, never have I once found them to be an actual threat to, well, anyone including children.
I find it really disturbing how the same crowd that rants about protecting children from these "drag groomers" seem to have no problem whatsoever with law enforcement officers and religious leaders actually raping children and getting away with a slap on the wrist or just scot-free.
I was going to rant about how some places like Kansas even went ahead with enforcing genital checks and student athletes...but fortunately that bit is a bit of an exaggeration, according to fact checking from the likes of Reuters and AP.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Yeah drag has never been for me or something I liked in real life, but goddamn do I hate them being demonized by people, including Republicans who used to be friends with Drag Queens. Now they’re out to exterminate them including said friends.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Conservatives can be such a...what's the expression that they really love to throw around whether it makes sense or not, oh yeah, bunch of easily triggered snowflakes.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The worst part is the unsurprising number of GOP members who have worn drag before. Fitting into the typical Every Accusation Is A Confession with their lot.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Who are some examples, other than Santos? I gotta keep the list on hand for future debates.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I don’t remember all the lot off the top of my head(too many to count), but Rudy Giuliani has worn drag.
Nancy Mace wore a Tuxedo to the White House this very year while denying drag to her state.
And Madison Cawthorne.
I believe MTG boyfriend has worn drag too.
Those are the ones on the top of my head. I’ve mentioned others in the Politics Thread awhile back.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. On the subject of drag queens, this clip from Ghost Stories (official!) Gag Dub has aged really well:
Although slightly less relevant, so is this one:
These came out in 2005, btw.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Too bad like 99% of the rest of the dub aged like warm milk.
Not Three Laws compliant. Can't deny that.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.eh
Some of it hasn't aged well, but there's some good stuff in there.
Momoko is a riot.

Highly arguable, if you're fine with edgy comedy a lot of it has aged well.

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnIt's more that, regardless of how okay or not the jokes are, most of them are rather poorly paced and go on for much longer than they need to. Doing a gag dub is really, really hard, especially for a show that went on for 20 episodes, and the result is a lot of jokes that worked once repeatedly coming back and making less of an impact each time and a bunch of jokes that just overstay their welcome by quite a bit. Plus the jokes that just straight up aren't okay.
and that's before getting into stuff like how the behind the scenes story about why it's a gag dub is suspicious as hell and doesn't actually make sense
There are some disturbing and quite frankly messed up stories about minors participating in drag shows at clubs, but those are fringe minority cases. Republicans are, as Republicans are wont to do, blowing this whole thing vastly out of proportion. Drag performers going to libraries and such are no different than any other kind of performer putting on a show for kids. No one gets mad if a clown or a magician entertains children for an hour, but it's suddenly a massive issue if that performer has falsies and a dress on.
And 100% these kinds of people need to clean house on their own members before speaking out about other communities. What's the saying, don't point out the speck in your neighbour's eye when you have a log in yours? But calling out evangelicals or beauty pageant runners out on their disgusting behaviour doesn't pay the bills, I guess.

Oissu!I might consider listening to the people shrieking about drag if they weren't so obviously in favour of child marriage.
Not Three Laws compliant.
In Nevada, Governor Lombardo (R) signs two bills related to transgender rights and vetoed another. One bill would require health insurance companies (including Medicaid) to cover gender-affirming surgeries, and the other would require the state's Dept. of Corrections to adopt health standards for trans people in prison. The bill he vetoed would have protected providers of gender-affirming services from losing their medical license. (AP News)
