Accidental or not, it is off-topic, and invites a religion derail.

I think that Orwellian makes no sense there.

That statement in itself is Orwellian. "America has always been at war with Sodom-Gomorrah."

Yeah, she pretty much got the definition backwards.

They are misleading people with their name. They should be called "Focus on the Straight, Traditional, Christian, and Ideally White Family".

[down] That too, thanks.

Has...has, "Orwellian," entered English vernacular? Because if so, I completely support it's new definition (If only because it's funny.)

"Ugh! This quiche is totally Orwellian, man!"

I kinda want to find the community and start hanging signs revealing the existence of the LGBT community. Hot damn, this is going to be way funner than spoiling the Santa thing...

Orwellian is already a term for things that resemble Orwell's 1984, mainly in surveillance aspects.

I am astounded that they used the word while thinking the definition was the exact opposite.

[up][up] Right, but it's not being used that way here. I like to imagine that it's going to be used by all the young hip kids in the same manner that, "Bogus," used to be used a few decades ago.

[up] Quite. It literally blows my mind.

I meant that they were using it in a vilifying way. You know, "we've always been at war with X".

Though...I've never actually read the book. Just know some stuff through pop culture osmosis.

"Teaching kids about LGBT issues" = "Enforcing thought control on the populace". Does. Not. Compute.

[up] I am repeatedly called a bigot because I don't hold that prejudice, such as homophobia, is something that people have a right to. Even the passive kind still causes negative feelings that have tangible consequences, such as mental illnesses and eventually as bad as suicide. Sure, one person considering homosexuality a sin is meaningless, but it's never just one person, and each one person contributes to a wide and great problem.

But, apparently I'm a bigot for thinking that!

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.
