Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread
.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

On the subject of clarity, an addendum to my previous post on passive-aggressive behavior. My goal was simply to be informative, and while it was a response to Starship my post wasn't addressed to or aimed at Starship personally but in general. Looking back, I think I might have come across as a bit passive-aggressive myself. Apologies if that's the case.
Kudos to the owners of Equality House.
Though, a horribly cynical part of my brain expects to see the building riddled with bullet holes or lying in a smoking ruin by the end of the year...

Sure, people were standing in a bad place to be hit because it was not made clear that this was a DO NOT STAND HERE area.
DP your analogy falls apart when you realise that only one person had a problem with the statement until Starship said he thought it was a valid question. To torture your analogy a bit more, Ultra took the shot, one person went "I'm not sure if that hit" while every else said nothing, then Starship went "I think it did hit" and suddenly everyone is shouting about how it was defiantly a miss.

Fair point, but many people did no say anything between the time of Ultra posting it and Starship replying. Many of the people who had a problem with it after Starship commented on it didn't have a chance to have a problem with it before Starship commented on it.
No.

This kid is pretty damn awesome. And its nice to see someone at that age who is that well informed. http://www.upworthy.com/the-argument-to-overturn-the-ca-gay-marriage-ban-is-so-easy-a-kid-could-make-it?c=ufb1
Not sure that Roberts will listen but he did surprise us regarding Obamacare.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. You make a good point here. I'm inclined to have a bit of fear for the new owners, but perhaps being in the belly of the beast, so to speak, makes them safer. If WBC take any direct action against the house, they will be seriously fucked, and there's no way even they can twist it to exonerate themselves. Phelps and co are plenty stupid, but not that kind of stupid, so I don't think the risk will come to anything.

True, but compare the reactions that both myself and Dr Tentacles got when we stated the same thing as Ultra, if you do I think you'll see that this thread does contain an anti-Starship bias.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranYet not all of the people who responded to what Ultra said were online when you and Tentacles made the same points. Many of the people who were online and responded to your points were the same people who didn't have a problem when Ultra made the same point. Yes, this thread probably has an anti-Starship bias, but I don't think it's as big as you're making it out to be.
It was an accidental statement intended to make a general, valid point that because of the specific phrasing caused an unwanted argument.
Also, I'm fairly sure the mods have asked for the debate over the merits of the statement to end, if I'm right?
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. The fact that the comparison brought up so much controversy proves that it was a bad argument and not one to make if you wish to be communicating clearly with other people.
The fact that you're still arguing about it proves that it was a terrible argument and no one should be defending it. Instead you should all be quiet about it and not make the same comparison again.
Now drop it so we can all move on.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIf you cannot communicate effectively without inadvertently insulting other people, then you need to figure out what you're doing wrong.
Tone of voice does not transmit over the internet. What you are thinking when you write something does not transmit over the internet. If you do not want to be misunderstood, the onus is on you to write in such a way that is not easily misunderstood.
Now drop the subject and let's get back on topic.

I hope some of the younger WBC see the gay's across the street see that they aren't evil and turn against their evil grandfather. Unfortunately I doubt it will happen.

So in short; if you make the choice to take it somewhere it was never headed, that is quite simply your fault.
Obviously not since people misinterpreted it immediately. That seems like, to me, saying that your aim was perfect. It wasn't your fault that the person you were firing at was not standing where your shots hit. If your aim was good, then you would've hit where the person you were firing at was standing, and, if Ultra was clear, then people wouldn't be misinterpreting what he said.
