I watched it back when it was on Kids WB as Cardcaptors. I wouldn't say that the Cardcaptors version was better, but at least it successfully stripped out most of the creepy CLAMP-ness. Third grade girl with a crush on her teacher? Cute. Third grade girl and her teacher mutually attracted? Creepy. So is Sakura's aunt crushing on her as a Replacement Goldfish for Sakura's mother. And arranging for Sakura to spend a day alone with a strange old man without anyone else knowing where she is is vastly worse. Etc.
But yeah. Ignoring the truly massive Squick potential (or else utilizing vast quantities of industrial-strength Brain Bleach), CCS is pretty awesome.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I watched this a lot when I was younger. Dunno why, but I loved it almost as much as Digimon back in the day. Tried to re-watch it a while ago, but I got bored around episode 37. Then I tried watching it subbed and that was just annoying. I at least read the manga, so I've pretty much seen it all now in some way.
I've been meaning to read other CLAMP stuff, mostly so that I can read whichever manga crosses them all over without feeling hopelessly lost, but I keep getting sidetracked.
I've watched it twice - once as the Cardcaptors dub, and the whole series subbed online with my girlfriend.
I liked it more subbed than dubbed, though Sakura was terribly, terribly naive and oblivious. XDDDD
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I'm pretty sure even the original Japanese version of the anime turned Rika's manga reciprocated crush into an one sided, fully ignored from Terada-sensei's side, one.

As for the series itself, I like it quite a bit, especially the third opening.

"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dI've... Never actually seen the anime. >.> All I know about it is they added half a billion new cards, and a character who looks like Shampoo's Mini-Me. Oh, and Catch You, Catch Me.
However! The manga, on the other hand, is one of my all time favourites. There's just... Something about it that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside~ And the artwork... Oh my, I know it's to be expected of CLAMP and all, but... Ah, everything's just so gorgeous and utterly, utterly adorabubble and eeeeeeeh~! I feel like my head is going to explode into sugar everytime I read it. The only thing that really bothered me about it was the aforementioned teacher/10 year old student relationship, but apart from that... So, so, so very adorable and easily one of my favourites ever~
Also I love the fact that Sakura not only wears several different costumes over the course of the series (which is in itself something I feel sets it out from other series, as it shows she has more than one set of clothes >.>), but that they're all... So... CUTE~! I always imagined Tomoyo growing up to be a fashion designer because of it, ahah. >.>
...The ironic thing is, though, that due to the way I sort out my manga, all my CCS volumes are right next to, uh... All my Berserk volumes. Make of that what you will.
I tried to watch this recently and decided I couldn't get into it about episode 7.
I didn't have any nostalgia to back it up for me, and it didn't seem to be going anywhere, so since watching it felt kind of bland I dropped it. I wouldn't say it's terrible, just terribly average.
I call forth Unlimited Stories!![]()

No, not the dvds, just the manga.
Can't blame you. I am not sure I would have liked it if it wasn't for MASSIVE nostalgia backing me up.
By the way, has anyone listened to Korean opening
? It may has to do with nostalgia, but seriously, I like it much better than the original.
Also, I really loved Sakura's Theme 2
. Something about feels so...good.

Heh, my volumes of Yotsubato is right next to Parasyte. Yeah.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.I'm liveblogging the dub, if anyone's curious.
It's a pretty good show if you can accept the ridiculousness of the plot. Still disappointed that the backstory is so sparse and underdeveloped, though. I mean, she has all the cards, so what the heck is she going to do with them? Were they created just because Clow Reed felt like it? And the mass card transformation scene, well, I have quite a bit to say about that.
Still, the characters are likable enough for me to forgive its flaws. Meilin in particular is my favourite character. She is hilariously whiny and snarky while still being able to make you feel sorry for her. And she has the best voice performance in the dub. The show just wasn't the same after she left.
Actually, in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, there's Princess Sakura, and Sakura Li/Kinomoto. They're entirely separate people. They're not even alternate versions of each other. They only kinda look similar, but as in turns out, they don't even share a name. Princess Sakura's real name isn't actually Sakura, BTW.
I was heavily disappointed by Tsubasa, seeing a continuation of Sakura post-middle school and beyond would have been sweet as anything but it just didn't cut the mustard for me.
This show is awesome, pure CLAMP goodness and a magical girl classic, right up there with Sailor Moon and Revolutionary Girl Utena. It forms a decent chunk of my pre-pubescent years and set the stage for many years of anime watching to come.

How the hell is Utena magical girl? Even Saber from Fate Stay Night is more magical girl than her.
But not
Utena herself.
Anyway, back to Sakura. What was the card that nearly drowned everyone in petals?
somethingFlower. It was quite amusing they made it a case of Heart Is an Awesome Power.
Yeah, it was fun. Not even a use of the Petal Power trope. Just plain, straightforward dropping flower petals. BTW, did they like, ever try to explain to the muggles where the petals came from? (i.e. make up a story so people wouldn't think "magic".)
I guess you're joking, right? Since CCS predates CLANNAD quite a bit...
Wait,
CCS is actually set around post-2004.

somethingWhoa, chill the hell out, man; I didn't say anything about Utena. No need to shout.
I love CLAMP to pieces, but they really get flat-out weird sometimes in their quest to be I'm Okay, You're Okay about sexuality and age differences and stuff. CCS is a prime example.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!

Quite surprised there isn't a thread for this series.
So...anyone liked the series? I mostly did, mostly because I used to watch this back when I was an elementary school student. Ah, nostalgia. Even now, I find it to be really too darn sweet and I like its mystic feelings.
Even though being a Spoiler Hound pretty much spoiled the whole thing for me, I will check the series completely. I think I only actually watched 2/3 tv series and the manga...never. I'm actualling hoping to buy all the volumes if I have some money in my hand.
