Actually, yes, it does sound stupid [in English], probably because I think of the Torch's "FLAME ON!". If you're going for something that's supposed to be funny, go for it. For serious worldbuilding, I wouldn't recommend it.
Amen means "so be it" or "truly" and ultimately derives from Classical Hebrew. It's not an inherently religious word.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.Thirding the "shine on sounds ridiculous due to pop-culture" opinion.
The Mayan and Aztec/Nahuatl mythologies were pretty heavily vested in the sun. I think something alluding to the sunset/sunrise would be a good way to end a prayer. Also, is the sun considered just the sun, or the manifestation of a god? That would change things a LOT.

My question is this: would it be stupid if prayers of a Sun worshipping religion ended with "Shine on" as a kind of equivalent to "Amen"? Even though I speak very good English, I am still not a native speaker, and things like what sounds ridiculous and what doesn't sometimes fly over my head. If I think about it in my native language it sounds good but not sure about English.
Thanks in advance for any feedback, and also would be interested to see what prayers fellow Tropers have come up with for their fictional religions.
