Exactly What It Says on the Tin - my chosen setting for my main work is Jidaigeki, as realistica s I can possibly write it (with the help of history books and other resources) - a big part of said setting, at least for one of my main characters, is the Red-Light District, where she works. This is before the creation of the well-known districts like Yoshiwara. I'm also trying to stay away from any one type of Red-Light District, and portray both the depressing side and the opulent one.
How can I creatively combibine the two, with no or lots of Artistic License? Suggestions?
