You know how when you click an item in your watcglist it automatically goes to the last post you read? Is there a way to reset it so you can start at the beginning again?

Not sure I understand. For some people, what would means a trip back to 2007 or so.

I think (s)he's asking for a button for a "back to the beginning" on threads. I will freely admit that I like the fact that thread titles default to taking you to the last post you saw, as opposed to the "standard" title=>beginning, itty bitty button=>newest post thing other forums use. I don't know why people like the "back to beginning" button, but if people you decide to add one, I'd like to request that it be off to the side rather than being the main link.

What he said, I would like to restart a thread from the begining and continue reading from there. Sorry if I am not clear.

Good idea. The "latest" field can already take to Exactly What It Says on the Tin; the title link could be to he thread opening.

I'd prefer not. I like the way it works now, it's so much easier to just go to threads that have the update button.

What I basically want is (I think) an option for people to be able to erase their reading history so that they can restart the thread again. I'm not making any sense, am I?

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a "reading history", just something that keeps track of the last post.

Nevermind, what I was thinking wouldn't work if you couldn't read the entire thread's worth of posts in one sitting.

(I'm really not being clear, am I? Ok, I'll try again) when I click a forum thread, it automaticly goes to the last post that I viewed, is there any way to reset that so I can start a thread over from the beginning, leave it, and then come back later where I left off?

Well, you could make a new account. It will start with all threads unread from the beginning. and will track your progress on any that you open up. As long as you aren't making it to make mischief there should be no trouble about it.

So there is no way I can start over A thread on this account? It would be a bit of an inconvenience to have to change accounts whenever I want to read those threads.

If I knew what that meant,I think I would either be insulted or nominate it for a MOW. I'll try explaining my inquiry once more, and then I'll give it a rest for the night.

When you go to a thread on your watchlist it automatically goes to the last post you read, right?

Now let's say you want to start reading the thread over from the beginning.

No, I get what you want to do. You want to start over at the beginning of a thread and have your cookies track only your progress since the fresh start.

Make a second account. It will start with all threads completely unread. From there, you can either mark the ones you aren't interested in "read", or you can ignore the ones you aren't interested in.

Either way, your progress through the thread(s) you read from that account will be tracked by the cookies for that account, independent of what you read in your main account. There's no other way to do it. We don't have any code in place to mark a thread "unread" once it's been marked "read".

So I can put in a "mark unread," and all those gymnastics could be avoided?

Because I could do that. That would be pretty simple.
