And fuck yeah, I completed it, and it took me less than an hour!
I will post more detailed thoughts and even photos later, but for now I'm just gonna say it was (equivalent of) 6 dollars well spent!
All right, for the more details:
- I was initially very cautious about taking parts out by my hands, but after about a dozen parts I got comfortable enough to just rip them off. Still, I was back to being cautious with the antenna part.
- The instruction was what is possibly THE most clear and easy to understand one I ever read for anything. Kudos to you, Bandai.
- The "spine" felt a little bit wonky and didn't feel like it fit at all.
- After I put everything together, there was a part left so I freaked out a bit, only to realize that I didn't put on the shoulder cap.
- Embarassingly enough, it took me a couple of tries before getting it to stand up straight. XP
- I tried to get it make various poses, but in the process of its arm came off and I had to reattach it.
Gotta say, I'm thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Apparently there is no other EG Gundam kits yet, so I will probably go with HGUC series. I do know that RX-78-2 has HGUC Revive and so does Gunda MK 2, and those two sound like good pick.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.
Nice. Glad you had fun with the build.
I really should put the RX-78-2 and the Mk II on my MG list for when they're inevitably rereleased.
Also I've had the Mk-V and the Blaze Zaku gathering dust in my closet since P-Bandai shipped them to me. I should really build them soon. Can't wait for the Mk-V to tower over my other units.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I have to second the instructions for gunpla kits being the clearest and most easily followable in the world. Bandai set the friggin' platinum standard, and several industries could stand to learn from them.

These are my first two Gunplas. As you can see, the EG RX-78-2 went off without a hitch. The HGFC Burning Gundam, on the other hand, is missing several parts because I broke them and can't stand up well because I had great difficulty assembling the legs and attaching them to the pelvis.
I have an HG Char Zaku II in the mail that should arrive today. Hopefully, that one will be more successful.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.I second going with an MG before an RG. They have the same complexity (inner frame/skeleton to which the armor attaches), but the MG is much more manageable in that the pieces are larger, and therefore easier to manipulate. I've built the MG QAN[T] Full Saber and the RG Exia, and I'll tell you right now the Exia gave me way more trouble than the QAN[T] was due to the small-ass pieces in the RG.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I should build an MG. I've built 1.5 R Gs (my Wing Zero EW is missing a part; if anyone buys one send me a copy of the receipt because Bluefin won't send me a replacement part without a photo of a receipt which is absurd) but not an MG yet.
I have the ZZ Ver. Ka all lined up to be built but... I lost the instructions. Seriously, the runners are laid out but I don't have the instructions. Sigh.

Speaking of needing to build, I should also get started on my RG Sinanju. I recall buying it and the Exia together, but got really burnt out of RGs just from the Exia and it's been gathering dust since. Never mind that my Mk. V and Blaze Zaku also still need to be assembled.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I just build the Baund Doc. Insane amount of articulation and color separation. Just 6 yellow triangles and a monoeye as stickers. The gun sight and secondary monoeye (for MA mode) are both clear pieces. Very nicely detailed, I love the neon pink. The big feet allows it to stand very well even on uneven surfaces.
good luck with the Deathscythe. That's always a cool design.

I still think it's insane that the TV show designs were all P-Bandai and the mass releases are all the Ver. EW. And then the upgraded versions of the EW suits (IE Altron EW, Deathscythe Hell EW, etc... in other words the EW suits we actually see) are also P-Bandai.
Particularly bad for the Shenlong whose Ver. EW sucks and loses its most unique gimmick. What's the point of a Shenlong without a stretchy dragon arm?!?

I also love how you don't even really need a hobby/x-acto knife to clean up the nubs, because there's next to no leftover pieces that are immediately visible, especially on the white of the RX-78-2. Have fun building it, and make sure to share your thoughts on it!
