That Sazabi got my hopes up, but it looks a bit too overdetailed for my tastes.

Fuckin' stoked that the Jegan finally got a Master Grade, though.

but HOW?

Will the Sazabi have funnel effect parts? Do RG's do that?

Finished the HG A-Z Gundam.

Overall, I think it turned out better than my first model, the HG Gundam Dantalion. However, I'm mildly anxious because one of the handles for the guns already has a stress-mark.

And general question: is it normal to have leftover parts? And are any of those leftover parts supposed to be spare parts?

Because I'm noticing that the E1 set of pieces for my A-Z Gundam has parts that look a lot like the gun handles, as if they were spare parts...

There should be a set of pictures of the runners at the beginning of the instructions. Any parts not used will have X's on them. And since you said the runner was E1 they are probably unused duplicates of parts you used on E2.

Yeah, spare parts will be that. If they're not usable for another kit that the HGBF kit is based off of then they're good to have around anyway.

Also got done doing the HGUC Zudah and I really effing love this kit. It feels surprisingly solid considering its from 2006 or so and the long rifle is no fuckin' joke. I mean its longer than my Origin Char's Zaku's anti-battleship rifle, its a fuckin' BEAST. Also the Sturm Faust is fun to basically pose as a bludgeoning tool or Ullapool Caber. High yield Zeonic face removal. A sober mobile suit would shoot it.

don't like the decals tho. Stickers are fine but decals? C'mon guys.

Alright so my goal for this week is to start and finish the Reginlaze Julia, and if possible start on Bael, with those two and Kimaris Vidar being the last 1/144s in the IBO portion of my backlog. After those I’ll just have Hashmal (technically 1/144 HG, but mobile armor = hueg), Full Mechanics Barbatos 6th Form, Full Mechanics Vidar (might have this be the first build I try painting, or at least markers), and a P-Bandai Unicorn Shiden which I ain’t touching until I’m more confident in my building and know how to paint and stuff.

Once those are taken care of (again not counting P-Bandai) I’ve got a couple of Nirvash Type-0 kits to let me get away from Gundam for a little bit.

And once those are finished I’ve got a small but lovely collection of HGUC, but I want some grunts before I do the big names, cause Full Armor Unicorn ain’t exactly small and Kshatriya is T H I C C. And finally the MG Nu ver. Ka.

So that’s my roadmap for the next year. We’ll see how much progress i don’t make. Probably a lot.

Weather was nice yesterday so I gave my HGUC Hi-Nu and Re ZEL the matte treatment and once again, I am blown away by how much it improves the figure. At basically zero effort.

Just bought the old HGUC Rick Dias (Apolly/Roberto pre-red version). It's an old kit, the build is decent. But man fuck those ankle engines, they've got such a thin connection to the inner leg that it partially snapped when I grabbed it wrong.

Since I'm basically trying to make a Zeta Gundam line-up (no Dijeh and Baund Doc), I really hope The O get's a revive. Maybe after the Guntank and GM get one (GM is all but confirmed). The O and the Zaku III really need it.

I'm starting to wonder what's taking solong for The O to get a revive. Is it just an unpopular suit or something? I know Messala 2013 kit, I'm just wondering what people's issue is with The O.

It's not unpopular, but it's not exactly popular. All of the Zeta suits that got a revive (Gundam Mk. II, Hyaku Shiki, Zeta Gundam, Qubeley) are all more iconic to the series (even the Qubeley I'd argue). The only other main suit would be the Dijeh or Baund Doc, but they don't even have a regular release.

So now I'd say the one's that'd need a Revive are: the Rick Dias, The O, and maybe the Hi-Zack. And of them, the O is the most important and needs it the most. Hopefully it'll get one, but it's up against more pressing kits (OG Gundam will probably get a couple more).

Finished the Rick Dias. Ok, so for a really really early ass High Grade I'm impressed with the kit. It's got problems, the nub marks are blatant, the knees aren't that mobile, the beam pistols can't plug in properly to the hands because of their molded attachment clips, the head's construction makes it loose, and the pieces are sometimes fragile.

But man there's so much to love about this kit. The front skirts are individuals ball joints. The beam saber actually has a beam saber effect piece rather than being a solid plain plastic piece of crap, and it grips surprisingly well. The head's structure might be loose, but I'm damn impressed they engineered the vulcans to work like they did. I've got the Robot Damashii and while it's superior in most regards, I didn't like that they did the vulcans using another piece to replace the top of the head.

The backpack is great! The fuel pods aren't as mobile as I'd like, but they're mostly out of the way. All of the weapons store properly and easily, it's great. The bazooka can sometimes be awkward to hold in the hands on account of their blocky design and the fuel tanks, but it's mostly manageable. And kudos to the trigger fingers. The kit uses closed hands with an articulated finger so you can toggle between beam saber closed fist and trigger finger fist.

Beyond that, the kit stands well and looks great. Love the colors even if the blues and browns blend together.

This may be the oldest high grade I own (and the Robot Damashii is on the whole better), but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

Biggest complaint though is that some bits are fragile. The leg thrusters plug in only at an easy to snap point and they stick out a bit. The backpack is assembled with some pretty thin plastic that locks in tight.

I just got two Zudahs for myself; one to make he commander variant and one standard variant. I'm happy that i will have a extra anti-ship rifle to give to another model. I'm hoping those GM variants will be normal releases because I would love to have older design G Ms have HGUC models.

And I got done with the MG Turn A a few days ago. Other than messing up the head decal (because I'm not good with these dry transfer decals or waterslides) it turned out perfect. I really love the Gundam Hammer too, its just so dangly.

Can't wait to build that MG Epyon.

Well I managed to at least get half the Julia done this week.

On the other hand, my Sinanju still hasn’t shown up, so I’ll use my downtime next week to catch up a little and see what’s with the delay.

Picked up the RG Banshee from Barnes and Noble. Will build later on.

And I'm also shit with decals.

As for the GM variants. The Sniper Custom is almost assuredly P-Bandai. So far only the guard type's release has been confirmed (it being a standard retail one).

Yanno I'm so jealous of those US B&N shops having gunpla kits, why can't WH Smith stock them too? Saves me having to order off Amazon and wait ages.

Can't speak for all the shops, but you're not missing a whole lot. They largely only stock like 3-4 different types of kits and carry multiples of those (these past few months it's been the HG Atlas, RG Johnny Ridden Zaku, MG Tallgeese, and RG Unicorn/Banshee, and some build fighters). They stock far more Figuarts and Funkos than they do model kits.

I also did my first detailing last week. I painted the swords of my GINN variants and the beam effects of the HGEW models. I don't have the confidence to do detailing on the main bodies though.

[up][up] Well at least I'd take the RG Ridden Zaku and Unicorn. But otherwise, bleh Fucko Poops.

Also, RG Tallgeese is out. Kakarot 197 got a review up of it right away (along with a giveaway)

Eh all the B&N in my area for the last year or so have only had Atlas and a couple of IBO manga & Seed kits. There may have been a 00 or GBF last time I looked.

Wish I could get some UC stuff without having to look online :(

I should probably look into the other HG lines. Didn't the HG Seed kits get remasters once the HD thing came out?

Does Gihren's Greed have any 1/144 scale units aside from Char's Dom, Casval Gundam, and Gyan Kriegler?

[up][up] The "Remasters" are just slightly more anime-accurate colors of the old kits (barring the Astray and the La GOWE that were new) and a generic marking sticker sheet. So for most of them you're getting a 15 year old kit. Given that, I'd say they were probably pretty good for their time but today they're mediocre at best and not horribly dynamic. Color separation isn't super great in my experience. Really reliant on stickers and the proportions are meh. Also pretty underdetailed in terms of panel-lining and all that. Also a hilarious aversion to beam saber effect parts.

The Perfect Strike in particular is infamous for being garbage.
