Far away, back on the island full of cacti, the sheep-woman carried some cacti back to her "house". She had spent her morning the usual way - gathering food for lunch. She surveyed what she gathered with some pride, for her menu was a lot more diverse than it was two months ago. Instead of just cacti there were now some clams, crabs, seaweed and a couple of fish that she had managed to spear with a big cactus thorn. She was getting better at fishing.

She made a pile of cactus scraps that she had flattened and dried, and set it alight with the burning needle of a weird black cactus that exploded just an hour ago. She began to roast the fish she had acquired, wondering if she should use the seaweed as a spice. The breeze was cool, sparing her from the heat of the noonday sun, and despite herself she smiled slightly. She was getting used to life on the island. Immediately after she scowled, because she was not supposed to get used to her current living conditions.

"If only those pirates hadn't showed up," she muttered to herself, reminiscing the day when the infamous pirate Sackface Walker had raided the town she was staying in. The man had been dead set on killing everyone, and it was only through her survival prowess that she managed to escape. Fearing more pursuers, she disguised herself as Ritta Maatila, writer extraordinaire, and began to make her way back to her hometown by getting on passing ships, invited or not.

It just so happened that on one of her journeys a freak storm wrecked the galleon Riitta was riding in. She was hurtled into the sea. Gasping for breath she grabbed unto a piece of driftwood, and then everything went black.

She woke up on the shores of this island of cacti, and had been staying there for around four months, if her estimate was correct. Riitta felt frustrated, and once again looked out to sea. She had made a habit out of staring at ocean for long spans of time.

A ship, Riitta thought. All I need is a damn ship to get away from this island.

Her gaze focused on the gently swirling waves, she had completely failed to notice that her fish were rapidly turning into charcoal.

Kincadis looked out after the explosion cleared and he sighed, "Dammit, he got away...but he won't get far with that kind of injuries, we'll find him before long."

He stalked off, deciding to go to Maraxus and see if they couldn't find the guy themselves.

Ferdinand on the Maraxus just watched for any signs of the prince, or-

His train of thought was interrupted by an explosion and something - or someone - went flying out of that fortress. He gave orders for Maraxus to pursue, and thought on Kin. Well, the power hungry Marine thought, Kin could just fly over using his Logia. Today, Ferdinand would rise through the ranks!!

Two punches on the bottom, and one in the head, knocked the sea king unconscious. It floated up to the surface on it's side, a huge bump on it's head, eyes crossed out. A few minutes later something smaller burst out of the water to join his kill.

Akauma the Warhorse surveyed his kill with pride, grabbing the sea kings tongue and pulling it across the water. On the beach of a small village, the only thing on the slightly larger island, the ship he had been travelling on was undergoing repairs.

Trust his luck to finally get on a boat and find out they were incompetent fools.

The marine pulled his catch onto the beach, and the marines started towards him. "What the fuck are you looking at?" snapped Akauma, getting most of his catch on the land. He went over to a marine and yanked the sword out of it's sheath.

Haki was focused into the blade, and Akauma turned to the sea king. Five slashes rent the air, nothing happening for a moment, then an explosion erupted cutting the seaking in five pieces.

Later that night, after he had cooked and eaten half of the seaking, one of the Marines came rushing over to him. "Vice-Admiral sir, a letter from HQ!" saluted the young man. Akauma looked up and the marine gulped. Strong cold eyes reminded him of Akainu, one of the most powerful Marines ever.

"Give it to me then" demanded the Vice-Admiral, taking the letter and shooing him away. He went back to the other marines, all gazing hungrily at the seabeast that Akauma was keeping to himself. As he sat, eating the seaking, he opened the letter and read it, eyes skimming across the paper; thankful for his mentor's hard training.

Five minutes later he crumpled the letter in his hands and threw it into the fire. "Marines, assemble!" he shouted. They snapped to attention and he gave instructions; even the ship's Captain was obeying him. "I need that ship repaired as soon as possible. If you can do it before morning, you can have what's remaining" he explained, pointing to the half eaten seaking.

"Yes, Vice-Admiral!" they shouted, both out of fear and respect. For himself, Akauma looked at the burnt remains of the letter.

He was surrounded by incompetents.

(Now to interrupt all the drama that is happening.)

Joe Average was bored. Joe Average was poor. Joe average liked neither of these 2 things, and had no current way of resolving either of them. After escaping from those dastardly pirates using the conveniently placed devil fruit things had slowed down in Joe's life. He was picked up by an elderly couple a few mile off where the exciting escape took place. Truth be told, Joe was offended his old pirate crew was not trying to re-capture him, even with his new powers. For these reasons, Joe was off the next day to find riches, and thus excitement.

"I'm sorry sir, this ship belongs to me." said a desperate Joe. "Err- I dont think so Mr.-err- Avage, was it?" said the guard guarding the ship.

Joe sighed. Despite him using all of the force he could muster on this guard, his power was not pulling through for him. Considering the guard was not very smart looking in the first place, Joe worried if he power was as useless as he thought it would be. Perhaps he would try a different approach! Joe put on a happy face and said the following: "Well, I was just joking with you there, to see if you were as dumb as all your crew-mates say you are."

"What!?" "Yep, they were making fun of you all day, drinking and laughing. The burly one even said he could kill you with one finger!" "Wha-but Captain would never...."

With that, the guard burst into tears and ran away sobbing. Joe expected him to get into a fight with the crew, but this was just as good, he supposed. As he stepped onto the ship, walking away from the bar where the Ship's crew was located, he realized a fatal mistake. Joe did not know how to pilot a ship.

"Hey everyone!" Joe screamed! "I just escaped from a group of nasty Pirates, and I know all about One Piece! If you would follow me, I could lead you to the treasure easily, and with protection. I have a devil fruit power!"

To his surprise, everyone, including the captain immediately rushed onto the ship to sail with their new captain, Joe Average.

After 20 minutes after waking up, Max came down the stairs with his pen hidden and Den Den Mushi in hand. He took a table near the window, and set up his communicator, ordering breakfast from the bar.

Dialing a number, the Journalist heard the phone ring.

With a sound of 'Gacha', a voice spoke on the other end.

Voice: Moshimoshi.

Max: Moshimoshi, Saccharinehere.

Voice: Ah, Max-kun. What can I do for you my friend?

Max: Was hoping you could tell me if anything big happened?

Voice: Well, I can send you a fax of the most recent story if that's OK? It's not a secure line this.

Max: You're too paranoid.

At this moment, Joe screamed, "Hey everyone! I just escaped from a group of nasty pirates!" and jolted everyone in the bar momentarily. Max registered the voice, and then returned to the Den Den Mushi.

Max: Listen, Whistle-san, I'll have to call you back. Send the fax through, and thanks.

Voice: Of course, Max-kun

With that, the Den Den Mushi went to sleep, dozing peacefully.

It didn't sound important, btu then he hadn't gotten where he was today by just rushing towards everytrhing interesting. Pirates, he thought, as the fax came through, breakfast arrived, and he dug in, keeping an eye on things from the window where he could see the dock.

"Well men, in order to find the legendary one Piece, we will need a powerful crew full of many other devil powered people. Does anyone have any idea of a devil fruit user close to here?"

Silence.

"Oh, probably should deactivate that power for a second" thought Joe.

With that, the entire crew burst out with questions of Joe's devil fruit power, legitimacy, and length. Joe immediately shut them up again with a threat that would have seemed much more meek if they were not all half-brain dead.

"Well, sir" began the former captain. "I believe a man in the pub had quite a strange pen, it seemed awfully suspicious to me." Joe turned off his power just for the captain, and asked him to repeat what he said. "It's as if the pen had eaten a devil fruit!"

"Well, I see only one thing to do in this situation!' said the boisterous Joe.

After the former captain was forced to walk the plank into shark-infested waters for being so stupid, even for pirate crew standards, Joe set off for the most adventurous sounding name he could find on their map.

"Gentlemen, set sail for the Forest of Cacti!"

Ferdinand had written the letter requesting aid, since he was a rather cowardly individual. And now, as he saw that guy starting to get away, he demanded, "Take aim and fire with cannons!"

The only thing that did was rock the pirate's boat due to poor positioning and aim, and give him cover of huge eruptions of water.

When the letter arrived, Akauma read it and then tossed it to the floor. Akito Narsa huh? Didn't even have a bounty yet. Not worth his time, thought Akauma, although he had been bored recently.

The name Ferdinand, the sender, revived some vague memories of a weak marine acting like he was in command, and Akauma was even less inclined to help. However, he had been interested in meeting this Kincadis ever since he had heard about the pirate fleet Kincadus had captured.

Akito Narsa, and Kincadis Ela Rosso. Perhaps he could have some fun in this part of the sea at last.

<><><>

As he munched on sausage and eggs, Max Saccharine read the fax that had come through the Den Den Mushi.

"Pirate Akito Narsa escaped! On — — — <<This is a date>> the World Noble Kincadis was on route to intercept Akito Narsa, a wanted Pirate responsible for several crimes against the Marines and citizens. No comment could be reached from Kincadis, although a marine on board the ship was present.

"I saw Kincadis talking with the pirate Akoti Narsa, and then saw the Noble fly back. Akoti Narsa has a Devil Fruit, and used this against Kincadis' in a battle that almost destroyed the prison. Our ship valiantly tried to shoot him down, but Kincadis let him escape."

It is rumored that a Vice Admiral has been assigned to clean the mess up, although there is no proof yet. More to come as we get the story.

He put down the fax, passed a piece of bacon to his jaguar, and pondered on the information. Lots of Pirates had Devil Fruits, but not many pirates got one up on that Kincadis guy. It would be an interesting story, but probably not one that would make him rich.

The Jaguar beside him ate the bacon quickly, chewing on it.

"Sir, we have arrived" said a short crew-mate in a sleepy mumble. "All right Gumby, lets go try to find someone with devil powers strong enough to defeat anyone in our way!" The crew cheered, and Joe turned off his power. He wanted them to remain alert throughout this expedition.

"Sir, two things" began Gumby. "One, my name is Jack, not Gumby. Secondly, how do you know anything but cactus's are on this Island?" "Shut up Gumby, I know what I am doing!" Gumby sighed and him, along with the rest of the crew left the ship onto the Island. Joe left a particularly big man named Shanx to guard the ship.

As the crew wandered through the forest, many pricks were had, and nothing eventful happened. Eventually, the group set up camp and went to sleep. The next morning the crazy captain Joe had thrown into shark-infested waters was back.

"Captain, I am really sorry about being crazy there with the Devil Fruit pen and such. I just wanted to be your favorite." Joe figured he would just kill this nutjob later on, so he gave him a fake apology. A fake apology like the one's he gave his old crew all the time. A few miles later, Joe spotted a cliff and ordered his crew to throw the old captain (which Joe had nicknamed Duncey) off the cliff, onto the sharp cactus's below. "Well, that's certainly the last we shall see of him" thought Joe as he ignored Duncey's cries for mercy.

Joe peered off the side of the cliff to make sure Duncey was actually dead. Instead, Joe saw him eating something, still impaled on the spikes. "Oh no!" Joe thought as he realized the dire consequences of his actions.

Duncey was eating a Devil fruit.

Akoti did the only thing sensible in a situation where his leg was potentially shattered and burn marks covered most, if not all, of his body.

He was sleeping.

After barely escaping from the Cannon Fire of that huge ship escaping from prison, the tired-ness finally caught up to him, and ignoring the excruciating pain in his everything, fell back in the small boat, and fell into a deep sleep, letting the waves take him wherever they were going.

He was sleeping for the good part of the day. F Inally, he felt his boat jerk and come to a stop. He had finally landed on...well, land.

He sat up, rubbing the tiredness from his eyes and looked around. An island of cacti...hm.

"This is a weird world." he mumbled to himself. Picking himself up, he figured it would be a good way to grab some water from these things...

Kin punched the ground on the fortress, looking out as Akoti got away. This was a disgrace...they got played by that guy, and he wound up just using the capture for a quick and ultimately free bed, and then leaving when he damn well pleased. He was not just going to sit there moping, though, he was going to find that pirate and take him back to be tried for his misdeeds. He would make sure of that for the sake of justice, and his own sense of right. This destruction would be repaid on him. Nobody played them for fools like this.

Kin activated his fruit and flew up, flying back to the Maraxus and Ferdinand immediately saluted, "Welcome back to the ship, oh great and benevolent commander, I must apologize that things went this way..." Being a lick spittle, as usual, and Ferdinand was a very practiced one at that. Kin just looked irritated at Ferdinand.

"We have to get going soon to keep up with that pirate, Akoti Narsa. But first, we need to see what we can do to help out the people in the fortress."

Ferdinand glared at the boy behind his back, no sense in helping people if there was no immediate benefit for him. He would think a World Noble would get the idea, but the Ela Rosso family was always more involved in the world than most of those guys.

Akauma was bored. The ship had been fixed and repaired, but moved slowly.

In the New World, his mentor had told him about Advanced Navigation, using sea kings and other mythical beasts to pull ships along. Perhaps he should beat one into submission, although he didn't like beating up too many sea kings.

He could respect something so huge and feared that only the tough messed with them. Worthy opponents indeed, they were.

"Vice-Admiral, do you have any orders for us?" requested the Captain of the ship, a low ranking Commodore. "There's only one heavily fortified prison in these waters, so we obviously go there. Now! Quicken the speed" he demanded, shooting a fierce glare around the ship.

They increased speed gradually, pushing the boat to it's limit. In the meantime, Akauma watched the sea wistfully.

Now what? thought Riitta. For months she had been the only person on the island, and suddenly there was more. A lot more. She'd always thought that she'd simply sneak onto whatever boat was passing by. Turns out that, as she was beginning to understand, things never work out the way you want them to.

This morning a boat had finally appeared, and actually landed on this God-forsaken island. The problem was that it sported a Jolly Roger, which meant the visitors were probably pirates. Riitta considered getting on their boat, but a part of her insisted that she'd be in danger if she did so. Aside from all the tsunamis and Sea Kings, of course. Another part of her screamed shrilly and pointed out that she could use a bit of danger to make up for the boredom that had been her daily life on her island.

And so she had a choice. Risk getting sold into slavery for the possibility of freedom, or stay on the island, safe but with her precious time ticking away. She decided to put the matter on hold and observe first.

There was no doubt about it, her guests were pirates, alright. Not terribly bright ones, she noted. She should have known; anyone with a smidgen of a brain wouldn't have gone to this place. She continued to watch them wander around the island. They seemed to be looking for something, what exactly she didn't know, but it must've been highly valuable since they were willing to spend their time getting pricked and whimpering in pain and, at one memorable occasion, one of their number getting his foot skewered by one of those cylindrical cacti that suddenly bent over. Most of the time though things were rather uneventful.

They don't seem particularly dangerous, thought Riitta. That train of thought hit the brakes when some guy was flung off a cliff. Riitta did not stay to find out what happened, deciding that she liked life on the island after all. It's not like another boat would have appeared out of nowhere.

And yet, after minutes of frantic running, it happened. There was another, smaller boat docked on shore. She instantly hid behind the nearest cacti (which she had determined to not be one of the exploding ones) and eyed the newcomer. He was tan, looked like he had just woken up, and then walked in a way that suggested it wasn't one of his better days. She wondered briefly if he was part of the crew that had arrived earlier.

The man was looking around, and it occurred to Riitta that she could probably steal the boat. The man didn't look particularly strong, or attentive for that matter. A diversion would probably do the trick...

It was at that point that she remembered a cluster of exploding black cacti nearby that she took care to avoid, and decided that maybe that place was worth a visit after all.

The Commodore and his men looked at a map as they sailed, pointing out the various islands to each other. "So the fortress is here right?" asked a sailor, and his friend nodded. "What are all these islands here?" enquired the Commodore, pointing to Cactus Island, a third island and Tiny Desert island. "I wouldn't recommend going to Cactus Island sir, considering who we have on board" replied the first sailor.

"But if we find the pirate he may be happy. Anyway, I believe it will be quicker to head in this direction, and we have to pass Cactus Island and Tiny Desert" added the Captain, using the compass to plot out their route (The V shaped ones). They all agreed on the route, and continued on their course.

Out on deck, Akauma smirked a little, annoyed at how wimpy he had been while he reminisced. He was about to start a new memory, a Petty Officer came forwards in a salute. "Vice-Admiral, we are approaching Cactus Island, and we suspect the escaped pirate might be there" explained the Marine, causing Akauma to sigh angrily and turn towards him.

"Are you a devil fruit user?" asked the Vice-Admiral, and the Marine hesitated for a moment before shaking his head. "No sir, I'm no-" he began, but Akauma's fist slammed into him, haki sending the marine into the air and into the water. As marines panicked, the Vice-Admiral went back to relaxing.

He'd graced them with his presence on their boat, he deserved a sleep or a nap at least for god's sake.

"Captain, good job sending me down here to collect this Devil Fruit, and I am so very thankful you have it to me!." said the now recovered Duncy. "Of course, the great captain Joe knows all!" said yours truly. "Now show off this new fancy power of yours!"

Duncey took a deep breath, and spurted many needles into a nearby cactus. "Did I do good captaAAAAAAAAAAAAH-"

With that, the needles hit an explosive captain, causing a massive explosion. Luckily, the crew was far enough away to survive the explosion, although Duncey was lifted high into the air, falling down with a crack. "Are you all right Jim?" said Gumby, rushing to his aid. Duncey ignored him and rushed straight to the captain.

"I saw 2 people up there, one looked prepared to attack the other, one of them is probably a devil fruit user. I also saw a marine ship approaching the island!"

"Well," Joe began as he made his crew smart(?) again "I say we get a vantage point near the fighting, and utterly destroy all of them at once when they all grow weak."

"HOORAH!" said the crew, and they rushed over to where the battle would take place, and where they could also see the Marine ship, and laid in wait for the upcoming battle.

A great boom erupted from the Island as the cactus set off several more, attracting the attention of Akauma. He startled awake, not expecting such a loud noise. "What the fuck was that?" he demanded, standing up and scanning the horizon. Hundreds of needles shot at the boat, bouncing off Akauma but stinging some of the marines around him. They jumped around in pain, and Akauma searched for what had caused the explosion.

"Sir, a group of exploding cacti just... exploded" announced the Commodore, and Akauma turned to him. "They don't explode without reason, Commodore" responded Akauma, still keeping an eye out. "Actually... Vice-Admiral I passed this island one and it did explode on it's own. It happ-" began adding the Commodore, but a gigantic wave knocked the ship aside. Everyone but Akauma was knocked to the ground.

Out of the sea rose a scaled behemoth of a creature, teeth open in a roar of anger. The explosion had woken up a seaking, and it was a big one. It was twice as big as the one from before, it's eye almost as big as Akauma's large body. However, while everyone quaked in fear, something rose up in his body.

It was joy. Rarely did he feel happiness, only in those times when he saw a challenge. Dropping his hat on the ship, but keeping his marine coat on, Akauma grabbed the sword from a Marine, climbed onto the side and looked at the sea creature. "Hey, you want a meal? Try me on for size!" he boasted, using haki to reinforce his voice.

The beast had scales all along it's body, looking like a serpent crossed with a crocodile, mean eyes scouring for it's next meal. It heard Akauma's call, and roared in response to the challenge, swimming forwards. The ship was now close to the island, so everyone could see the Vice-Admiral dive into the water, moving like a fish, Cutless Between The Teeth, and swim towards the seaking, his expression impossible to gauge. However, it soon became surprise as another, shaped around a catfish, erupted up from the surface as well from behind.

Akauma kept on swimming powerfully in a front-crawl, obviously an expert in the maneuver.

Akauma VS Cacti King and The Clawed Neko. Going to be a close fight.

Everything that happened seemed to happen at the exact same time. The second he landed, he felt he had a pair of eyes on him. Hell, even more than one pair of eyes. It felt like he wasn't alone on this island, but whoever insane person would live/Even CONSIDER bbeing on an Island of Cacti was beyond him.

After the nagging feeling of being watched left, he jumped back in surprise when he felt a loud "THOOM!" near from another part of the island, almost like an explosion or something of the like. What on earth, what the hell was going on on this island? He thought with a frown.

THEN He felt the ocean swell near his location, and fearing it may very well be the Marines, hid behind one of the taller cactus' making sure to not touch any of the spines.

Indeed, there was a Marine ship just off to the distance, but what really drew his eye was a massive Sea King had just risen up beside the ship and just stared. Akoti grinned a little bit. Well, it not only seemed as though the Marines would get their just deserts, but he liked watching a Sea King in action.

He heard a booming voice from the ship, shouting at the men to retreat no doubt. Then the beast roared, and what happened next made Akoti blink in surprise.

"Did that Marine just jump into the water....AFTER A SEA KING?"

Max let his breakfast be taken away and was now working on a story. His blue Den Den Mushi was out and the contact from before was speaking now.

Den Den Mushi: More info on the case. Apparantly, an alert to all Marine personnel in the area was issued by Ferdinand, Kincadus' right hand man. It requested help in capturing the pirate Akito Narsa.

Max wrote down the information, making a ven diagram on his paper with his transform pen. "He seems like a very dangerous guy this Akito Narsa, and yet there is no bounty on him. What do you reckon Whistle?" he asked his contact.

Den Den Mushi: I think he's just an upstart pirate novice. The only reason everyone is so interested in going after him is because Kincadus let him escape. They probably want to make good of his blunder.

The journalist tapped his pen on the desk absent mindedly, and it growled in response. "Sorry" he whispered and continued writing. "So, apart from Kincadus, any other marines in the area?" asked Max, turning over a new page.

Den Den Mushi: Actually, I have heard that Akauma is on the move.

Max paused for a moment, thinking. There had been a merchant ship arriving recently so everyone in the bar was gone. "Really? Why would he come to —— Blue?" asked Max, and the face on the Den Den Mushi changed to confusion.

Den Den Mushi: I don't think so. Still, all very interesting isn't it? Have you got anything?

Max: No, just that a boat was kidnapped by some pirate in a vest. I might board another ship soon, where do you recommend I go?

Den Den Mushi: Try Tiny Desert, the port town there is rumoured to be related to the Revolutionaries.

Max: Perfect. I'll see you around, Whistle. Thanks a lot.

The snail phone closed it's eyes with a gatcha, and Max put his notebook away. Time to look for a ship, he supposed, and walked out of the inn.

The crew was completely silent, being awed at the magnificence of the fight of the single man versus the Sea King, and the man was gaining the upper hand.

"Captain, if you want my honest opinion" began Gumby "we should either get the hell off of this this island or ally ourselves with those 2 below. If the Marines are sending such a powerful force to kill them then they must be very powerful."

"Men, I have a great idea! We should save these poor weak men from the marines with our awesome power!"

"HOORAH" the crew belted out.

"Hey, you two, down there!" the crew yelled in synchronous harmony, parroting from their beloved captain.

The 2 looked up, then they looked at each other. The one behind the cactus seemed a bit fidgety.

"If we combine powers, we can destroy them, we may even let you join Joe's awesome crew. We have 2 Devil Fruit users here, and you both seem to be capable of fighting, so let us combine powers to absolutely destroy that ship! How about it?"

Meanwhile, Joe whispered to Duncey to begin firing his needles if anyone tried to get away.

He was tired and hingry and needed something to do, or someone to shoot. It had been a week since his last stop, he was essentially difting on aglorified ppeice fo scrap metal. A technically advanced peice of scrap metal that ncan take down a ship on it's own, but scrap metal none the less.

The drifitng motorized boat was a tiny thing, canoeshaped, or rather shaped as though there was a canoe on tp of that first canoe and therewere bars that seperated the top fro mthe bottom likea jail cell and the puffing little machine seemed to be covered ina random assortment of armaments and trinkets.

On the inside was a boy hwose heart was as cold as the iron that made his miniature vessal, a man named Mousa, hungry and unhappy and in desperate need of ruining someone important. He landed and left his ship wide open. Anyone could take it, or they could try and set off any number of the traps. And even if they survived it, they didn't have the key to the engine, heh heh heh.

He turned to the first person he saw (Max).

"You. Highest bounty on this island or nearest marine base, now." He commanded.

Dammit, Riitta muttered. For some reason a cactus exploded way before she had wanted it to, and now the tan man was looking out to sea. She'd lost her chance to steal the boat...

Thoom. She then realized that the exploding wasn't stopping. And then she realized that the noise was coming from the ocean. She looked. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

A Sea King was thrashing wildly in the water, its fanged mouth darting in quick intervals into the water. In the waters immediately around Riitta swore that she could see the faint outline of a man. Which was preposterous, of course. She sighed, and lamented that she had begun to crack.

The Sea King suddenly roared in pain as several deep gashes appeared all over its body. Riitta's jaw was practically hitting the floor now. One man was fighting against a Sea King. And, by the looks of things, winning. It was no wonder the giant catfish in the vicinity looked reluctant in joining the fight.

Riitta decided that she was done for. If her current luck was anything to go by then she suspected that the guy fighting against the Sea King was yet another pirate. He did look bloodthirsty enough.

Surrounded by pirates, her chances for escape lost. Oh well. It's been a good life.

She then heard a voice. It seemed to be calling out to her from above. She looked up, and saw the pirate crew that she had been observing earlier. She couldn't quite make out the words, but she thought she got the gist of things. It was a ridiculous proposal, yet sadly her best chance at surviving.

"Are they asking me to join their crew?"

The Journalist was putting his Den Den Mushi away when the boy appeared. He asked for the highest bounty and nearest marine base. Max gave a chuckle. "None on this island, sorry. As for marine base, there isn't one either. Maybe out there but I wouldn't get your hopes up" he explained kindly.

His discerning eyes swept over the dock, finding the iron boat next to the big ships. It was quite original. "Is that your boat?" he asked, pointing to the makeshift craft.

"Yes, yes it is," Mousa said as he grumbled and proceeded to take leaflets out of his messenger bag and started to nail them to walls that said:

Akauma let loose several slashes from his sword, the gashes cutting deep into the Seaking. Akainu's protege then went underwater while his opponent was distracted, moving like a fishman.

Just a normal human, he fought the bottom half of Cacti King, delivering strong Haki punches that caused it to bellow in pain. It could not swim anywhere now, he thought, and was his prey. Claws dug into the water, grabbing for the Marine.

Outside the water, everyone on the island heard a sharp crunch noise; no doubt the Marine crushed by the powerful creature. But if that was the case, why did it scream as if it was in pain?

The answer soon came apparent, with Akauma bursting up to the surface holding the Seaking's mangled and broken arm. With a tearing noise, he ripped the seaking's limb off, swung it around, and began beating the creature senseless with it's own limb, face contorted in battle rage.

The Catfish beast attacked, but Akauma picked up the wounded Cacti King effortlessly, and threw it into the other Seaking. He then threw his sword. Haki infused, it cut through both beasts without problem, bifurcating them at the same time.

Both seakings were cut in half, taken down in less than 5 minutes. Akauma stood on their floating bodies, and the wind blew his Marine coat behind him, blood splattered face now serious. "Fear Akauma, The Red Horse of War!" he roared loudly, coat settling to reveal the back.

On it was the word every Marine believed in, proudly announcing what the man strived for, and what had powered his body to fight.

Justice.

By the time the marine made his flashy introduction, the crew was right beside the 2 strangers. "Hahahah AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!"

Joe was laughing a hard belly laugh, one in which his crew joined in as well, for a good minute. "Quite a flashy introduction there, ey pally? You killed not one obese sea cow, but two! It only took you a good (Joe held back laughter) 5 minutes?" The crew erupted into laughter again.

"Duncey!" "Yes, cap" "Fire!" Duncey screamed "Cactus Cactus Barrage!" Hundreds of needles would be launched at the apparent stupid-as-nails marine.

"Heh, dodge this Sea Cow murderer!"

Silence

"I said fire, Duncey!" "I'm trying Captain, it is not working!"

The entire crew broke into a panic.

"All right, if Devil Fruit doesnt work, lets just gut im! Everyone but Gumby and Duncey go and kill this stupid creature!"

"HOORAH" all 50 members of the crew yelled as they charged the silly man, with swords and guns readying. Joe felt like something would not end well, but ignored the feeling, No one messes with Joe Average and gets away alive!
