They're made for different audiences, but EoT might make more money if it gets better reviews.
Looking for some stories?Well currently Eo T is at a 92% rating (it'll probably lower later on, but still, it is getting high acclaim from pre-screenings for critics).
Think Maleficent will be able to get a similar level of praise (currently, the reception from pre-screenings in Europe have been pretty positive)?
I'm of two minds on that. I'm tempted to go "Oh Smeg", but the critics really familiar with Disney are still here in America, so let's wait until they get their reviews. Unless it's not being screened for American critics, in which case, I reiterate, "Oh Smeg"
Even if it really is an improvement over Alice and Oz, I highly doubt it'll end up in the 90s. Early to mid 70s, at best. As for the competition, I'd be more worried about HTTYD 2 than Edge of Tomorrow. The former is going for the same crowd as Maleficent, has just as much hype surrounding it and will almost certainly get better reviews.

Looking for some stories? There is something strange going on between my suck-o-meter and this movie.
First, this is disney, and they don't make crap anymore. The recent movies they have released have been pretty good. So they have that going for them.
But everything about this movie just trips red flags I did not know I had. Its strange all around.
Correction: they're getting better in terms of their animated films. When it comes to live-action, they're still falling flat on their faces.
Looking for some stories? That's not necessarily a red flag. The red flag is that they clearly don't give a shit about respecting said animated film.
Looking for some stories? There's no real accounting for taste. Some people actually kind of liked The Lone Ranger, and they can actually articulate why.
I didn't see it though. I'm not a fan of most of Disney's live-action output.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectNow you can like a movie that is objectively terrible.
Like I simply adore The Room but I guess that's a special case
Oh really when?I was just thinking...wouldn't it be funny if this wall just a big whopping case of Trailers Always Lie (and a leaked script apparently) And this actually ends up being really good?
TBH, the one thing keeping me from dismissing this movie as a poor mans Wicked is Angeline Jolie. From the trailers and TV spots, she seems to be playing the characters as evil or at least really bitchy. That gives me some hope...
What trailers were you watching? From what I've seen, she only acts like that around the king, who's the bad guy. Around Aurora she's seemed 100% sincere in their interactions.
Also the interviews I've seen have lead me to believe this is the poor man's Wicked it appears to be.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatYou don't know that, not really. She seemed more resigned to having the girl follow her around IMO. Like 'Well, she's here, might as well tell her what's what" I mean all this stuff just gives a tiny snippet of the movie. I'd rather wait and see what it's actually like before passing judgment.
As I've said, I like Jolie's abject malicious glee, real or not, so I might give this movie a chance depending on what people say when it actually comes out.
We do know that from the leaked Script. The only things missing from the script and the trailers are the scenes with a massive battle between tree creatures and Stephan's forces. That's the only one that comes to mind. Also, the official novelization of the movie follows the script too. By all means, everything we have suggests that the script we have is accurate. If it isn't, then why market the damn movie as a Poor Mans Wicked?

I dunno. Sleeping Beauty was never one of my favorite Disney films growing up, and Aurora was also quite an uninteresting character imo, so all of these changes don't really bother me as much as you guys. Course, then who am I to judge?
That said, while I am mildly interested in this film, I feel that I should save my money for the film coming up the week after it comes out:
You think this film will be able to beat Edge Of Tomorrow?
