It's starting to sound like we have a final running time: most movie sites are saying it's 98 minutes. Compare with the originally announced length of 135 minutes. Guess they learned a lesson after Lone Ranger after all.
To go on a brief tangent, the reactions to this are kind of enlightening in terms of how movies have changed. A few years ago, 90 minutes was the standard for films. Now I'm seeing a lot of people bitching about how the movie won't be long enough for anything to happen (which is so stupid that I don't even know where to begin debunking it). We've gotten so complacent with 2+ hour films that anything less is incomprehensible. IMO, this could be a breath of fresh air after Oz and Lone Ranger had running times too long for their stories.

Looking for some stories?Well, there's nothing wrong with a 2 hour movie time in my opinion, just as long as it isn't dragging and keeps a steady pace. One of the reasons I liked Catching Fire so much is that I barely felt the 2+ Hours go by, while Divergent's 2+ Hours felt like it could have been 90-110 something.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.I tried to tell the naysayers that it's all in the choices of the filmmakers. If they really were able to cut over half an hour of footage, then taking it out will most likely help the film.
Looking for some stories?Double posting because the novelization comes out today. I haven't read it, but I've seen a few reactions. Not only are the supposedly leaked changes false, but it's almost identical to the original script.
Looking for some stories?Though I want to believe that, and there is previous evidence from disney in the novelization of Pirates of the Caribbean 2, but I feel like the changes of making Maleficent a full Villain and etc were too good to be true... Call me a cynic, but I've yet to see Disney do a full on Villain Protagonist or simply just have a dark ending during its recent eras.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing. Those aren't Villian Protagonists. The movie was about the heroes. The closest Disney has a Vliian Protagonist is Wreck It Ralph, and even then Ralph doesn't act much like a villain.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. So, according to a new teaser, Disney Infinity's new expansion will have Maleficent, this movie's Maleficent. Either they plan on making Maleficent a good guy permanently, or this is just a cash-in like the foolish idea of putting the Lone Ranger and Tonto in the game.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
Most likely the latter. They'll alienate countless numbers of people if they're stupid enough to permanently change her alignment.
I think the closest times Disney has ever come to a Villain Protagonist are The Emperors New Groove and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and even those aren't perfect examples (Jack is arguably more of an Anti-Hero, while Kuzco has a Heel Realization partway through the movie, and in any case before that the plot wasn't necessarily about him being villainous (but more the consequences of it)).

The trailer is interesting, but I've been burned before by Snow White & the Huntsman.
Though for some reason I got Devilman vibes when I saw her winged form, thanks Go Nagai.

So apparently Maleficent doesn't want Aurora to touch the spindle in this movie.
THEN WHY WOULD SHE PUT THE CURSE ON HER IN THE FIRST PLACE?! GAH!
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
Aurora doesn't really have a choice at that point. She's in a trance, like in the original.
The spindle assembling itself was the only good part of that clip. As for the rest? I say follow my lead and give your hard-earned money to Godzilla and/or X-Men. They deserve it more than this shit.
Also, I don't think I've pointed out that this version of Stefan is incurably dumb in addition to being evil. "Oh, I'll just put all the spinning wheels in the same place where my daughter who's cursed to die by one is going to be brought. That's the best idea I've ever had! And spraying this weird alien goo on my face will have no negative side effects whatsoever!"

Looking for some stories?I pray that this film will end like Dark Shadows and Lone Ranger. Making the creative teams actually rethink about what they're doing and give pointers to Kenneth Braunaugh when he does Cinderella. Though I'm not too happy with the choice of director for the upcoming Beauty and the Beast(Slash website said who Disney chose but I forget the name, apparently he worked on one of the Twilight movies). Neither am I happy with the choice of Francis Ford Coppola's daughter directing Little Mermaid.
It's a shame John Carter failed. I wished it did better so Disney could go more sci-fi genres instead of clinging to fairy tale genres.
If Disney wants to do Wicked so much with their properties, why not just make Wicked already?

No money in that. At least in the Bug's Life theater, they've already given Disney about a hundred bucks just to be there.
