I personally find Sun, Moon, and Talia the worst. Our summary of it has some funny moments, though.
I could set up a doc in Google Drive for us to play with. I've been brainstorming all afternoon, and I think I have a good framework to start with.

Looking for some stories? Here we go!
I don't know if anyone can comment, but I made it so anyone can edit.
RE pets not named in movies: Did you know that Frollo's horse was called Snowball?
In the original Grimm tale, she simply didn't get an invite because there were only 12 golden plates for the 13 fairies. But does it really matter? The movie is all about symbolism. The fight of the good against the evil, the power of love which will defeat even the darkest curse. Maleficent didn't turn up at the feast because she was really hurt about not being invited, she turned up because she loves to make trouble. The same way she ruined Flora's flowers every year.
They'll either get rid of it or twist it into a "boo-hoo, she's fallen so far and lost her faith in twoo luv" moment.
Looking for some stories?yes, but what are the odds of that actually happening?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Put my two cents into the doc. Basically: Lesbian subtext is going to be too much like WICKED, and I definitely like the Start of Darkness idea.
glad you liked the magic duel idea. i've added a bit more for a brainstorming session.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.on another note, i've decided to watch the old Disney movie again, as a sort of "refresher course."
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.I'm watching it properly for the first time. Good fun.
I kind of wish they would recreate the Drunken Song and the fight scene afterwards in live-action. That just might make the whole thing worth watching. But they won't.
you know what i find amazing? that the animation for this movie still holds up after 54 years.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.I know, right? This one just seems to exist in a world that the other Disney movies don't. I really hope they can do justice to the visuals instead of just going for "generic action fantasy." I want Dragon!Maleficent to actually look the way she did in animation form, with the glowing green eyes and everything.

Looking for some stories? The animation is truly unique...there is no other movie like this, every single frame is like a moving picture, which is even more impressive when you consider that the whole thing is hand-drawn. It is the main reason why this is my favourite Disney movie, nobody will ever spend the money to do something like this again, and with the classic music, it is even more timeless than Disney movies are either way. Plus, there aren't really many movies out there in which the majority of the cast is female and the main heroines are three old ladies. It is one of the reasons I'm so anxious about Maleficent, I bet the only thing this movie will achieve is to destroy the original characters.
which is why we have this thing.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

One version has them all thinking she was dead, another version has the letter get lost (making the story even stupider) and a third version has the kingdom trying to avoid her notice. Incidentally, that's the version where the Prince's mom is inexplicably half-ogre. And irredeemably evil, but the Prince himself is just fine.
When I read that, it just made me wonder "did the ogres look just like humans? Or does Sleeping Beauty have a thing for big green guys?"
It also makes you wonder about the Prince's father too.
Admittedly, once you get past the initial set-up, almost every single version of Sleeping Beauty has something really creepy and twisted about it.
