Can't find that news.

Also I heard it'll be gorier than the book.

[up] I don't care about gore. I want it to be real and raw, but unnecessary gore isn't what I'm looking for.

Hopefully real and raw is the level of gore they mean. Gore isn't in the book much catching a re-read. Catching Fire and Mockingjay do though.

Dear lord, Mockingjay is brutal. Skin melting off of your body like wax, decapitation by lizard mutts, THE MEAT GRINDER, and who could forget Coin's most evil moment ever?

How the hell is Mockingjay becoming a movie?

I mean snuff films have been less brutal.

(Note: so far, I've only read the first book; haven't gotten to Catching Fire or Mockingjay yet.)

So far, I'm not worried about the casting. I haven't seen Winters Bone yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about Jennifer Lawrence's performance, and I thought she was good in X-Men: First Class. And in a situation like this, engaging in Dawson Casting for the leads should make some of the book's more graphic content a bit more palatable for both the Moral Guardians and, more importantly, the MPAA.

I also don't mind a lot of affectionate romantic scenes. Hell, Katniss and Peeta should be kissing and making lovey-dovey eyes constantly; that's exactly what they did in the book, playing up their relationship for the cameras so that they'd get more sponsors and aid. It should be kept clear that their romance is at least partly for show, though with Collins writing the script I wouldn't be too worried about that (or any other major deviations from the book).

Um, woo?

That can only ever be cool if they could replicate that in an actual movie theater. Which they probably can't.

They have some screens (known as Trailervision) at the theatre that I usually go to that displays motion posters (along with ads and trailers).

A sequel already? Can we concentrate on one movie at a time?

Well, it's not really a "sequel" any more than the later Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings movies were sequels. It's a three-book series, so there should be three movies. But it's a little overconfident to start one before the first movie is in theaters; if the first movie doesn't do well (see: The Golden Compass) then you've wasted a fair bit of money.

And this is going to turn out exactly like The Golden Compass. The whole movie just screams "another failed attempt to kill Twilight".

[up]Not kill it, silly. Replace it. This series will be starting about the time that Twilight ends. Plus, I haven't heard of any references to pre-teen lust and God being killed in The Hunger Games. Okay, maybe the former but not the latter.*

[down][down]That's to attract the depraved fangirls whose lives will be over once they're done with the Twilight movies.

[up][up] But the on-set photos and pre-hype make it sound like Twilight. The sets even look the same!

I liked the first Hunger Games book.

Stephanie Meyer then decided to reccomend it.

Twilight fans everywhere poured into the Hunger Games fanbase.

This caused the second and third books to suck badly.

The film appears to have the same affliction.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

Disagreed I liked Catching Fire, and if anything influenced the atrocious Mockingjay, its Harry Potter 7

What with

A) Nothing happens for 7/8 of the book except mindless Filler wandering (The similarites between wandering Panem and all that Forest/Malfoy Manor/Lovegood house crap is sickening)

B) Anyone Can Die,but won't get killed off directly or will be shoehorned in at last minute for demise,or they might only be implied dead when either we haven't seen the body or the writing is ambiguous (Cinna vs Tonks/Lupin, Moody vs Finnick)

C) The protagonist will instantly requite the love and have Babies Ever After with someone who more obviously had a crush the whole time, even though their really wasn't much build up (Harry/Ginny vs Katniss/Peeta)

D) Thematic Filibuster takes over (Rowlings "Love" theme vs Collins "Both Sides Are Evil" theme) when people aren't dying.

Twilight never was or was cruxed by three dimensional ideas like Harry Potter 7 or Mockingjay

Frankly there shouldn't even be a movie at all since the point of the book is that "Violence is horrible" and all a movie will do is bring out Trauffat Was Right. And the rest of the book is Katniss thinking which you cannot convey on screen.

Lionsgate needs a hit to save the studio. I'm just not seeing it right now.

Huh. It's blocked. I wonder if they're ever going to officially release it anytime soon?

Though what you guys said isn't exactly encouraging anyway...

It's up on IMDB.

How does this look like flipping Twilight? It's a young woman running through the forest and shooting a bow and arrow with a voiceover from Gale saying "All they want is a show."

What does that have to do with Twlight?

They weren't staged and designed the way they were here and in Twilight. This whole movie is happening solely because of Twilight and Lionsgate's entire pre-release hype is going to show off that fact.
