There was a thread at some point in the past. I guess part of the concerns were server load for previewing the posts and the fact that, unlike the wiki where postediting will leave unuseful history trails, forum previewing doesn't really serve a purpose and it's quite easy to go and edit what you just posted. I am pretty sure it is just low-tier on the list, but still present; but don't quote me on that.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Thirding. I get a lot of redlinks because I worded the right trope wrong, or misspelled a word from another language. Sometimes, I actually link to the wrong trope on purpose so I can try to find the right one.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman. If you fear that you can get a pothole or some usual syntax wrong, you can test it in the forum sandbox (that's what it's for) or by editing your troperpage and then discarding the changes...
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Atleast for PM's.
You can edit your regular messages easily. That's not as big of a deal outside of really fast topics like Roleplays or the Yack Fest. And the latter isn't a big deal either.
Quest 64 threadOh, yes, I would love this for PMs and forum posts. Definitely useful. I understand why it wouldn't be super-important, though...
I am now known as Flyboy.Count me in. People would be really benefitted from this function.
Forums I don't really care that much about, but a preview button for PMs and Hollers would be much appreciated. It's embarrassing when you send someone a PM, type out [ smile ]*, and expect an emoticon to show up like they do in replies.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!

Something I've noticed is that I will often screw up a forum post and scramble to edit it to fix what I screwed up. In these cases, it gets annoying not having a "preview" button. Just like we have one on the wiki, I think there should be one here.
