I think there's something to that degre eon the G3 tropes page!
...yup!
- Deconstructed Trope: Princess tropes get examined in The Princess Promanade. Wysteria learned about the stuffy, restricted lifestyle princesses had—and the implication that before her, all princesses lived like that—likely put a damper on young girls who wanted to be princesses. Wysteria wasn't even allowed to sniff flowers.
- Also, Wysteria doesn't earn the title of princess; all she did was happen to touch the magic flower. Any one of her friends could've become princess, and it's implied that if she did something to earn the title things wouldn't have gone so sour.
- Contrast with G3 Rarity, who had actual responsibilities and was selected from other young pink unicorns for the honor of making the first rainbow—but shirked her duties in favor of having fun.
Yup. I almost think Runaway Rainbow was a bit of a reconstruction from the previous movie. Yes becoming a princess does entail a lot of responsibility, it can be hard at times, and there's a strong desire to just have fun with your friends, but the position has responsibilities for a reason, shirking them ignores your duty, and requires study. But it's all for the good of the ponies.
Speaking of Promenade, the Breezies stole a lot of the scenes they were in. Their dynamic that's very close to the CMC and bouncy personalities make them likable. Also Pinkie Pie's snark is always great.
Aaaand now you reminded me of the firefly in Lily Lightly, and thus Shine On is stuck in my head, again.
Something that's both kind of funny and also tragic is that my dog Lily, who is timid and easily spooked by unfamiliar objects, is scared of the doll of Lily Lightly that I got from the 3rd Sunday Market (she was one of the many pre-Fi M ponies I found there). To clarify, Lily isn't scared of the doll in itself, but if I make the horn and dress lights on the doll light up in a dark room, Lily the dog often acts visibly scared of it (as in she backs away from it and hides in her kennel, which is her safe spot she likes to go to even when it's not bedtime). It's kind of funny because she's scared of a doll that has the same name as her, but tragic because of how self-conscious Lily Lightly was about her glowing horn, and she'd hate it if she accidentally scared a timid dog with it.
My dog Lily gets scared/startled by of a lot of things, and she's actually gotten a lot more confident from when I first got her (it took her a long time before she would even let me clean her teeth, and I'm the first person she bonded with). It's probably because she was gotten as a rescue from a place that had 12 Pomeranians (probably someone who was a hoarder), including her, so she may not have been socialized very much with bigger dogs and unfamiliar surroundings. She sometimes reminds me of a dog version of Fluttershy, so "Flutterpom" is one of my nicknames for her.
Yeah, "sadorable" is a good way to describe poor little Lily dog being scared of the Lily Lightly doll. Although considering that she has chewed on things she shouldn't a few times, it's probably for the best that she avoids my pony dolls in general.

The Protomen enhanced my life.

@Bobdude: That was the part that stuck out to me the most, that I felt like commenting on.
