Actually, it seems that whenever Soul Edge is divided into two for whatever reason, one is male and the other is female. In Soul Edge Blade, Cervantes wielded both male and female, only for female to get shattered and male to be taken from him.
In V, Pyrrha Omega's Soul Edge sword and shield set is referred to as Soul Edge (Male) and Soul Edge (Female) in the guide stuff.
That too.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Hmm. So it's not so much that one is male and one is female, but that whenever Soul Edge is divided in to (which has arguably happened with Soul Calibur) the other part is usually female.
Soul Calibur is simply unique in that it's desires are opposite (order instead of Chaos) but still has the same end goal in the long run.
Hmmm.
Also, I like Otherarrow's theory that both will always be the opposite gender of the other. That being said, I'd be curious to see a Female Soul Edge incarnation at the same time as a Female Soul Calibur incarnation.
Then again, my mind turns nearly everything into a Cat Fight, so no surprise there.
Yes, even sentient super swords can have a Cat Fight. I'm that obsessed.
Also, for shits and giggles, A random Taki vs Ivy pic, with them using their strongest weapons agains each other
.

One Strip! One Strip!Another random thought:
So Ivy created her sword using Magic, or using Alchemy? I'm trying to remember for sure.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Picture link seems to be busted. Dunno why; could just be my piece-of-shit phone being a piece of shit.
It is. The link worked for me.

I think it was alchemy. Hollywood Science, of course.
Ah. I see.
Though if her wiki entry is accurate not generic Wiki Pedia but the Soul Calibur Wiki It was actually magical help from Nightmare that gave it
it's sentient properties.
Also, I'm wondering why Taki is still okay carrying around Meki-Maru, which was already an evil corrupting influence before she put a shard of Soul edge into it?
Also, for those who've seen it, any thoughts on the pic?

One Strip! One Strip!Hey Wander, any luck creating her?
Didn't it help with her whole 'demon huntress' business?
I think we all thought "It was kinda bound to happen eventually" for a second.

Yeah, but she's carrying around an evil sword with a fragment of another Evil sword in it.
And both swords are notorious (especially Soul Edge) for corrupting people. Also, it's stated that Reki-Maru was weakening at some points. I would think that would start to have a negative affect after a while.
In fact, I can't help but wonder if that's the reason she was much more ruthless in the 4th game.
That's what happens both characters not only have the largest busts in the female cast (before the Fanservice upgrade in the 4th game), but are also sharing the role of Ms. Fanservice (Stripperific english Lady vs Spy Catsuit wearing Kunoichi).
By the way: I see a lot of Fan Art with Ivy and Taki together (often fighting each other). Are they seen as Rivals? Cause I was under the impression that in-universe, they only fought that one time where Taki told Ivy that her dad was Cervantes.

One Strip! One Strip!Took a Google Image search, but I think I found it. DA seems to think (or my phone thinks DA thinks) Zav's profile is "inactive."
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman. And both swords are notorious (especially Soul Edge) for corrupting people. Also, it's stated that Reki-Maru was weakening at some points. I would think that would start to have a negative affect after a while.
Do you know hard it is to make a living hunting and killing demons mate? Not easy I tell you. She's not Dante. She needs all the help she can get, badass ninja or not.
I like this idea.
Well, yeah. Not a lot to say about that. XD
Didn't they also fight in one of the intros for the games? -Can't remember-
Fair enough. I guess Beggars can't be choosers.
They did. The intro for Soul Calibur 2.
I assumed that was a re-enactment of their fight from the first game, but I'm not really sure.

One Strip! One Strip! No PS 2, mate. Also, law school and looking for housing means no time.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAah, sorry for bringing it up then man. I didn't realise about your circumstances.
So here's a thought:
How come Taki can't Teleport? I mean, her student can do it, but she can't?
Unless she learned it during the Time-Skip, taught it to Natsu, but then disappeared before she could use it.
One Strip! One Strip!...Taki can't teleport? I could of sworn that she could.
Wait, Natsu can?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I thought her gimmick was being quick but having limited range? You know, like Taki.
I didn't notice anything on Natsu that wasn't on Taki. Well, OK, I think there was a single combo.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.IIRC, Taki can do the invisible jump thing (which arguably isn't teleporting) and spam it to screw with the camera like Natsu can, but the teleport is an Edge ability, and those didn't exist in IV. So... yeah, that is kinda weird. :/ I think Taki's Critical Finish might have had teleporting and/or Shadow Clone Jutsu-ing in it, but I'm not sure.
She might have teleported in cutscenes before, but I'm not sure.

Oh. Good then.
And speaking of Critical Finishes, how does Ivy randomly create those Alchemical runes or whatever they are in her?
Is that she's just that good now, or is it due to being a Homonculus herself in the 4th game?
More to the point, if she put an artificial soul in her body after Daddy Cervantes decided to have a Father(steals the soul of his) / Daughter day, is she even really the same Ivy? Isn't the Ivy in 4 just her body with a fake soul in it, and shouldn't that mean she's a totally different character.

One Strip! One Strip! This is Japan we're talking about. The werewolf has a sickle moon motif and a floating cyborg wolfman minion. Everything is everything else. Alchemy is magic. No Japanese game can avoid at least a couple widgets.
EDIT: If it's Japanese, it should be considered True Art no matter how many individual parts of it can be made sense of.

They're pretty much genderless.
For a while, the hunk of Soul Edge that Cervantes still had was called Soul Edge (Female) to distinguish it from the Soul Edge (Male) that Nightmare had.
