I'd say III, with II as a close second.
Weapon Master Mode... where are you?
Weapon Master with III's Ca S would probably be the best single player mode this series ever seen.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.I had a feeling most of us liked 3. I'm glad to see I was right.
IF ONLY IT WAS ON THE GAMECUBE SO I COULD STILL PLAY IT.
Or if my PS 3 was backwards compatible, so I could play it and Makai Kingdom. What the hell, Sony?
So I popped in SC II to get some more Weapon Master action in. I liked Chronicles more, but Chronicles could've done with more special matches. The dungeons in Weapon Master did get kinda boring.
Fought a match, and leveled up! To Grand Edgemaster of the Gargoyle. And that will likely be the last time I level up, as the difference between levels is absurdly high
. High enough that I'd assumed I was at the top level. Which is a shame, because as long as I'm a Grand Edgemaster, I'd prefer to be "Of The Furies". But I'm only halfway there.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyOut of pertinent curiosity, modding games for the X360 is pretty hard, isn't it?
Likes many underrated webcomicsI forgot 3 was also the first game in the series to take out team battle and those other modes, so that's a mark against it.
White-robed badass with a peaked hood? Zasalamel is an ancestor of Desmond.
So I've decided I'd write a little blurb about what direction I'd take the characters and the game in, starting from minor rewrites to 3, up through an end of the series in 4 or 5. This would be followed by which features I'd like to see in the games. For example, I like tag in most fighting games, but it doesn't really work with this series. Team, however would. I'd also bring back weapon, not armor breaking, but only to stop excessive turtling, and those broken would still have most of their kicks and certain other moves.
So, expect that fairly soon, likely tonight or tomorrow.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI dunno. You do that, and you're more or less turning Soulcalibur into Tekken with one less button. Part of Soulcalibur's flair stems from the weapons themselves and as well as the fact that it's similar to Tekken without quite being Tekken. It's the same reason a lot of Capcom's non-Street Fighter fighters are more or less cult faves in their own right. Stick to the norm, but mix it up enough for it to become your own thing.
Temporarily dropping weapons due to being too much of a turtler? I could maybe see that, especially if you were able to recover them. But outright breaking the weapons? No.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarDue to excessive turtling. I can't really convey how much, though. Also, since I don't like armor breaking, and the stat changes therein, I wanted to leave weapon breaking as something true to the series and as something that had actual relevance.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyStared on Soul Blade, skipped to SCII, then IV, then downloaded SCI on XBLA. I haven't gotten SCV yet for obvious reasons.
I like all of 'em for different reasons, but I don't really know if I have a favorite, and even if I did, it would likey be for a trivial reason.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I gotta admit it Patroklos is Defrosting Ice King because he starts off as a total dick, but as the story progresses, he's not that person anymore.
He starts off as an Arrogant Jerkass, then becomes a Knight Templar for Soul Calibur, then becomes a warrior who fights for what he alone deems is right.
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiI'll get around to this
eventually, once I remember what I was thinking then. Had a little matter of an LSAT exam on my mind at the time.

"You're a good fighter, but I'm a superb one!"
He's such an ass at first, I couldn't help but laugh. Makes Young Sieg and his "I've never had such an easy victory" look like St. Peter.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarWell, what do you expect from a story that's only 1/4 of its intended size?

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarOnce again, that still doesn't excuse jack. Especially when it's not like they were told "get this done by the end of today".
The sad, REAL American dichotomyBelieve me, I'm not making excuses on their behalf. That's just the reality of it all. Take it or leave it, end of story.

Soul Blade/Soul Edge, the game that started it all. I like everything about it, outdated graphics be damned. A close second is Soul Calibur 3, luckily I didn't run into the memory card glitch. My friend wasn't so fortunate.
