Oh no, I meant that Medieval Spawn and a few other characters Neil Gaiman created for Spawn were going under a lawsuit at the time, which was probably the reason why he wasn't an alternate costume.
Jesus, copyright is stupid. I know he's not Al Simmons, but geez how nitpicky.
I also found out apparently Kasumi was supposed to be SC 2 as the X Box exclusive guest according to our wiki's trivia section. Man, that was never gonna happen considering who was in charge for DOA at the time.
"Copyright is stupid" say people on the internet whenever they are mildly inconvenienced by an extensive legal issue and the direct rights of content creators they don't know.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYa know Geralt really is a good choice for a guest character.
Aside from fitting with the series aesthetic he is the star of one of the most critically acclaimed & successful video-game franchises of the last decade. The Wild Hunt & Gwent just print money.
So they'll prolly get a couple Witcher fans to look forward to the game.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
And that's a great way for the series to get more recognition too. Hell, I got into the series with SC 2 all because Link was in it. We'll definitely be picking up a couple Witcher fans, maybe even some Tekken fans considering 7's success.
It's unfortunate that that video somehow made me even less excited for his inclusion. I'm sure their work in their own series is very good, but something about him just isn't clicking. Maybe it's because Soul Calibur's seeming desperate with its guest characters? In hindsight, the only guests that didin't seem desperate were Link and Heihachi...
The sad, REAL American dichotomyNothing abut Geralt seems desperate to me. He seems like a natural inclusion.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92Because Guest Characters have been cemented in everyone's minds after Soul Calibur II, so it's become a legacy for the series, which is still maintained with guest characters becoming more and more commonplace. If anything Geralt is a perfect fit for Soul Calibur. Right setting, right type of fighting style, and he's a popular, beloved character. I don't think it's desperate at all, no more than Vader and Yoda were. Desperate would be Rey and Kylo Ren.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Not that the specific character seems desperate or like a reach, but that the entire concept of guest characters in this series seems desperate, as they overshadow a good chunk of the native cast in the eyes of some.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI can't really think of any other series that emphasize guest characters before they even reveal half of the series' originals in the game. It might not have bugged me so much if the developers and fans waited a bit until more of the standard game was revealed before focusing on guest characters.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm pretty indifferent to Gerald since I never touch the Witcher franchise, but he doesn't sound all that different from Link & Link the best guest character of all times all while being shamelessly bias.
I still firmly believe that Yoda was the worst guest character out of all the guest character in any fighting games.

Yet there was also a bear, a training dummy, & severely handicapped old man who can fight by laying on the ground with the occasional crouch attacks. Gon stand out for sure, but he's not out of place either.
Maybe he would've been if he didn't negate half of my movelist.

I wasn't going off of theme in regards to either of them. Both Yoda and Gon are a lot shorter compared to the rest of the roster which makes fighting then a lot more difficult since most high attacks would go over their heads.

Wait a minute, you're telling me that Spawn wasn't originally planned to be the guest character? Who was it supposed to be?
