Why do people use "Gays" as plural? This is irritating.

Well, you can use a description as a noun for other things. As in, you can say "I'm brunette" or "I'm a brunette" or "Look, lots of brunettes."

But I've never heard it as a singular noun.

Be not afraid...

I titled the thread this way because I wasn't sure how much would fit on the title line. Not to be un-PC. But if it hurt any feelings, I'm sorry:)

The same time it became okay for America to become the horrific, idiotic nation it is today.

I say we all move to Canada.

I think gay stereotypes in general came from the whole concept of Trans Equals Gay... not all stereotypes are based in fact. Some of them can be just misconceptions.

Relating the whole "The people I find this the most from are those who have no philosophical objection to gay sex" thing, I think that the "Gay is Okay" movement encouraged the stereotypes. If being gay is okay, then it must be okay to make blind assumptions.

It gives me a headache too, don't worry. wild mass guess

If anything, it's becoming less acceptable. Earlier you could make fun of gay all you wanted. Now they're considered a legit minority, and making fun of them is wrong.

Anything about commenting on celebrities coming out is simply a continuation of what was before. Likely the only reason you're noticing it now is that celebrities actually are coming out of the closet and this time it's for real, not just for kicks like in the seventies (though all the drugs going through at the time, one wonders if they were tripping so hard, they hallucinated themselves into legitimately believing they were gay).
