Last 100% Hand-drawn Feature-length Films?

This'll overlap a bit with western animation. The film can't use CGI in a single frame (but it can use digital coloring), and has to be feature-length (i.e. long enough to be shown by itself in theaters even if it wasn't).

I'm assuming that Ponyo (2008) is the last...so I think the more interesting question here is what film is second-to-last? Before Ponyo, the last film to come to mind is another from Studio Ghibli, Ocean Waves (1993). But I'm working with very limited knowledge here. I'm sure there were studios that didn't adopt CGI until the late '90s.

I think the last from the West may have been Duck Tales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990), with The Little Mermaid (1989) being the last original Disney film.

I really doubt that Ocean Waves was the last before Ponyo, so I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on this. But I suppose I could just get Credits lists from the films listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_feature-length_films and see which ones have CGI Directors/Staff. Brute force it =)

I'm not sure, but what about Ghibli's The Borrowers ?

Waltz With Bashir.

It was done entirely in Flash, and with the artist's weaker hand, to boot, and is probably the most visually-stunning feature-length animated film I've seen in a long time.

Err, flash kind of means it's not hand-drawn.

If it's done with a tablet, it's still hand-drawn.

You could do the brute forcing attempt with this list, It's significantly smaller since it only includes those films that have atleast a 75% of traditional animation.

I don't know if it's 100% hand-drawn, this source says it is.

Did Cats Dont Dance use CG in any of the shots? I know it's the last animated film in the United States to use actual painted cels.

Err, flash kind of means it's not hand-drawn.

Oh we're gonna open this can of worms again?!

That's a can of worms now? I thought it was pretty simple: Using a computer program to draw something means it's not hand-drawn.

But in that sense, why is something drawn using a pencil hand drawn?

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

Time to put a bunch of kindergarteners to work making my masterpiece!

They'll only THINK they're finger-painting for fun!

[up][up][up]Yes it's done digitally, but what if someone were to use the brush tool to draw something and make it look traditional? It's still drawn by a hand.

It is still drawn by a hand if it is done with a tablet, the medium is merely different.

I think what he wants is the last pure cell animated feature film.

Of course, they were using CG in anime movies as far back as Chars Counter Attack, so...

[up]I know what he's talking about, I'm just explaining my stance on Flash animation and what it can do.

Flash doesn't automatically mean a lack of quality. Superjail and Brackenwood sort of say otherwise.

[up]Flash is simply a tool for artists and interactive developers- using it never automatically means the quality of your work will be bad. But I hate how it is still connotative with bad quality to normal people!

Seeing how a flash animated anything with good art is rare as hell its not hard to see how people think that.

There's nothing bad about Flash that wasn't found in bad animation before.

There is one practical difference possible with Flash, which is computerized tweening (which can be used for great good or great evil.) Assuming every single frame originated from human hands, that would probably meet the definition.
