I actually use the Animation Age Ghetto to get away with showing my nephew a cartoon he really shouldn't be watching at his age. His mother would have never allowed him to watch the Family-Unfriendly Violence if it was applied to a live-action human being. But since the show is Transformers Prime and the violence is applied to robots, it's perfectly fine for him.

Granted, the Nightmare Fuel aspects of the show go right over his head. I expect Fridge Horror to ensue when he gets older.

I'm not really sure if my dad is in the ghetto or not. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground, or he just doesn't think highly of cartoons in general.

The responses to me watching things like Looney Tunes is essentially, "Shouldn't you be watching something more mature?" But his thoughts on more "adult" cartoons like Family Guy (which I do not watch) is "Why is this show popular? The humor is really immature."

My dad does like Disney animated films though. I'd say he's in the All Animation Is Disney ghetto too. Or rather the "Only Dinsey Makes Good Animated Films" ghetto, if one such exists. He is generally surprised when I show him an animated like The Secret Of NIMH and is surprised to learn it's not Disney.

My dad used to like Rock a Doodle (hey, don't knock him! I like the film too!), but when he learned it wasn't Disney he lost interest in it.
