The Nephilim dropped.
Hunting spoke over the communicator, "We're landing in Midgar shortly. We should land 10 miles north-west of the city We're issuing their commander 24 hours to surrender in order to minimize civilian casualties. The enemy should be trapped at Puhen Sood military base. It should be marked on your radars. Our objective is to besiege the base; prevent escape and when the time comes either put them down or take prisonners. We should be one of ten squadrons assigned to do likewise, while twenty more will stay in reserve and scan for external threats and stragglers. Once Midgar, we'll be moving southwest to link with District Commander Fine and be reunited with resistance units."
The dropships landed from the sky as falling stars. Some decoys, some containing Frames. Several were intercepted, blown to shreds mid flight, turning their resemblance to comets uncanny.
They had arrived.
The Dropship landed in a crater that was once farmland. From it, the Frames emerged. Many of the squad now with patch work repairs, save Harbinger who rode in a back up Quicksilver assigned to her flight.
Hunting emerged in a Titanus and signalled the squad towards the objective.

"That's exactly what I expect of you, sir... It's why my actions were practical, and her's were suicide. I flew out there primarily to save one of my superiors, who has flown more missions than I have, is a better pilot in all likelihood, and is altogether more valuable than I am. Their pilot's devotion to her subordinates was admirable, but it became a liability, and so she paid the price."

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.Kiera took in a long, easy breath. It felt nice, breathing deeply. But she kept on looking, checking through the scope to make certain nothing caught them off guard.

The two metal beasts eyed each other over the fence which barely reached their waists. In the center, before Yasan stood an ornately decorated frame, most notable was the large missle pods hanging from each shoulder and the boost jets that hung from either shoulder, the wing span was roughly double the height of the Frame. It held a beam sabre on each side and a large physical shield.
The others looked like seriously modified Hives, the soles of their feet were host to threads and each shoulder was home to a host of missles. Drones hovered behind them.
It was clear all of these frames had seen and survived several outings and had been modified specifically for planet-side combat. They would certainly be victorious but even pressing tactical advantage and numbers, it would be a bloody fight for the Federation.

"Easy, Echo. Calm your nerves, or you'll be a liability. We can't afford that, alright? The Federation needs you to keep your composure. The slightest hint of weakness will paint a target on you... I don't want some random Cent frame ripping you apart." Kiera needed to calm Echo down, and fast.

The one up front is their leader, insisted on getting himself a shiny frame. See the wings? I'm clipping though the first chance I get. Doing the bastard a favour too; they look ridiculous. The rest of you should assist by holdings the ones on the flank back and if possible scratching at the leader as well. After that, we're just can't let them get breathing room. Foxfire and Echo, once the vanguard is out, focus on making sure none of the bastards try to make an escape with their frames intact, alright?"

"I know you can. That's why I'm trying to reassure you, rather than requesting someone take your place. You'll do your job." Coming from Kiera, that was a pretty good compliment.

Kara remained silent. Even if they fight more viciously, a beast is still a beast. And they can be put down just as easily.
