Humanity creates a technology able to implant into people nanobots that replicate through DNA. This makes everyone on the planet immortal and gives individuals bio-mechanical constructs (weapons, jet packs, body-armor, etc.) that are determined by random factors at birth. The constructs cannot be changed, but they are able to be treated as genetic material so "breeding" is possible.

The technology is done this way (the construct wasn't foreseen)as not to destroy some basic principles that are considered essential for normal sociological and cultural functioning, like reproduction.

Is this a good basis for a comic? Any ideas or suggestions?

So you're born with body armour?

If that is what you get I suppose.

Who programmed the nanomachines to randomly assign people superpowers? Why would anyone think it's a good idea to give a random portion of the infant population guns they can fire with their mind?

And if the powers are transferred genetically, then they're not really random, are they?

The weaponry wasn't programmed to begin with. It was an unforeseen consequence. But indeed not dangerous as everyone is immortal to begin with. And about the genetic thing, I was thinking about a secret breeding program for super weapons to be able to actually be able to kill again.

At the nanotech level, everything can be changed, if you're playing with hard science. (Also, do you mean "immortal" as in "doesn't die of old age", or "can't die at all?")

The superpower part seems really silly.
