I kind of was under the impression we'd be doing an inn/pub and a park, not choosing one or the other. Because if we were doing the latter, I'm not sure I would have voted for 'park'.

Yeah, that can still be the case if someone wants to lay down details on said pub/inn (deciding which it is would be a good start). I think Pyxo has a strong fix on the park portion

My mind is drawn to the idea of using a building like the Old Faithful Inn as a starting point.

A "historic" tourist attraction (our characters are the tourists) that would warrant a park around it.

Both together works quite nicely. The park sounds awesome and something like the Old Faithful Inn sounds impressive. Sounds like there should be plenty of locations for people to wander around, meet and do things together.

[up] It's not a problem. Everything is a little uncertain right now, but it seems like we're coalescing around the park/inn idea. I think you laid out a fine foundation for the park, so now we just need some details on the inn, beyond its target inspiration.

Ugh, have you ever felt like someone has poured glue into your brain? I've been kept up way too late at night either stewing over how long this infernal plague has lasted or trying to drown out those thoughts. It's happened for too many nights in a row and left me sleepy and stupid.

Sometimes, but I usually can't stand it for very long. I have to give myself something more immediate and at least somewhat in my control to focus on. It usually helps, though that's often contingent on how much the replacement for my focus is actually in my control at all. But the least I can do is make the effort. I can't avoid them entirely, but treating my personal existential crises as wastes of time has helped to diminish their grasp.

On that note, are you still participating in the CDTs? It's been a short month since you last posted in Adventure.

Are there any areas left in Adventure that aren't waiting on Miss Desperado?

Okay, considering how nothing's happened for at least a week, I'm not feeling too optimistic with Adventure now. :/

Been feeling similar for a while. I don't know if Adventure can continue without torpedoing several plots as they stand, at which point I'm not sure if there's any sense in persisting with the setting.

Miss_Desperado isn't communicating, and hasn't been posting in thread on even a semi-consistent basis in a very long time. But she also has the lion's share of active (well, 'active') characters in the thread, spread out into a multitude of groups and tied to them in plot-centric ways. The thread is dead in the water in this state. Moving on with the folks who are actually here would require some extreme adjustment, to the tune of all of Miss's group-entwined characters getting raptured away, or being more naturally left behind off screen, and those plots switching focus accordingly.

I guess it comes down to the consensus of those of us remaining. I've been trying to get my characters moving for a while, so it's not a particular struggle to poof David and Joseph back to town with the brief story of how they got there, but I imagine other characters like Masterofchaos's group, Pyxo's Sallara, Will's Lily etc. would have a more difficult time finding natural exits.

After that, it's still fingers crossed that a second day would actually draw in more participants. Enthusiasm around here seems muted in general.

Thoughts...?

I'm still of the opinion that the best move at this point is to launch a new thread. (I actually had a dream one was launched the other day.)

Pretty sure that's still happening regardless. If we can get someone to flesh out the inn, anyway. Talk kinda dropped off again.

After torturing my skull noodle for a few minutes...

The inn has a large, open area, four stories in all. The top three floors form a "horseshoe" shape, with stairs at either end. At the back of the inn is an elevator that was installed in a later renovation of the building.

The first floor has a dining area on the right and a more traditional bar on the left. The bar has a pool table, darts, etc. There are several TVs and radios scattered about set to various programming, usually sports and news from each of our associated universes, if applicable (i.e. my setting has radio, but no TV).

On the second floor, there is a live band on the left side opposite the dining area below. The right side has some rooms for various activities, like karaoke.

Sounds good to me. Hoping for other voices to chime in...

Can I ask how you feel about Adventure, Will?

I'd love to at least wrap things up for Day One, and am still hopeful of a Day Two. Speaking of which...

~Miss_Desperado, are you free? We really could use your input right about now.

Oh, come on, we had enough "rapturing away" with that Wolf 1066 bugger's characters evil grin

Not at all, I appreciate you identifying your needs and taking the time to back out of the thread—however mystically—before taking time to yourself.

Word of advice guys, usernames with special characters in them can't receive pings, so Miss_Desperado won't be getting any of these.

Actually, the ping works in this case even if the link doesn't.

Does it? I've tried to ping people with underscores before and it never works.

I've checked the PM logs and this post did sent a ping.

The park and inn both sound great.

Is there likely to be a designated camping area in the park for caravans, R Vs, housetrucks, tents etc?

...nothing? :\

[up] I would assume that such a feature is welcome if desired, but the park is Pyxo's brainchild so they've got authority.

Hey ~Masterofchaos, ~Killer Clowns, and ~Pyxo, being as you're the only other ones active in the thread, how do you feel about moving forward with Adventure without Miss_Desperado, if necessary? Given the immense shift it would entail, does that sound like something you'd still want to do? This pertains to 'Adventure day 2' as well.

Extending from that, does anyone who is not participating in Character Adventure at the moment see themselves possibly joining a refreshed thread, or is there simply too much baggage/not enough interest in the setting? Some other issue maybe? Dyin' to hear some thoughts here.

We might join a refreshed thread.
