That's not quite ready either. But at least I finally finished my post for the Transporter group.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight. That wasn't a first, remember when Arnaya
tested
their
reflexes?
Also, why does Nick think that the Web of Friendship holds the view that a society or system should be led by an elite, when the view they hold is that everybody should be an elite?
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Good question!
Nick mostly hates when people hold others to high standards, and is very much a "fuck what other people say about you" kind of guy, which why he thinks they're elitists, or smug (even though that's not true). That's why he got mad when he and his crew were called "cowards" or called out for not confronting Mael, or that whole thing with the giantess who's name I forgot already, lol.
Also he's still bitter that Adam got taken to the ship and he couldn't comfort him.
Does this explanation help?

Nick mostly hates when people hold others to high standards, and therein lies the crux of the problem. Holding others to high standards is how the inhabitants of the Jewel galaxy (and by extension the Web of Friendship) stay alive against their enemies. For example, first aid and CPR are taught in their elementary schools as mandatory subjects. Through that lens, that makes Nick not only look willfully ignorant, but also Too Dumb to Live and trying to drag others down to his level. The Web of Friendship are so harsh because they're desperately trying to pound in that the teens are going to die if they remain willfully weak. It's classic Anger Born of Worry and Nick is only seeing the "anger".
Would it help at all if Varla was somehow able to reveal the "worry" part? I'm not sure how Varla of all people would do that, but I suspect she has an opportunity in answer to Amy saying "You really think our moonstones changed our behavior that badly?"

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Exactly! And that what he's going to learn soon in the thread. He has a reason for this mindset that has something do with his past (revealed in Dreams II) and hopefully I'll get a chance to explore it here!
It would help a lot if Varla revealed the worry part, and if you want some inspiration, it would like:
Or something along those lines!
That sounds more like something Arilay would say. Varla is literally incapable of saying that she worries. Varla's crystallized heart has drastically changed her emotions. What used to be worry has been twisted to the point where she can't recognize it in herself anymore even though it's still equivalent to worry.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.I wasn't here for Dreams II, and I suspect it's going to take more time than I can spare to go digging around trying to find the relevant portion.
I'm not sure how Varla can bring up the flaws in Nick's ideology without either sounding very out of character (by not hammering on the "brutal" part of Brutal Honesty) or saying it in a way that makes it too easy for Nick to filter again like he has been doing. Taking my cues from John, it's too soon for Arnaya to break out of her ragdoll state, otherwise I could have her say "Don't you want to be [strong/fierce/tough/brave/___] like me?" and do something demonstrative like ripping herself off of Varla's sword. With the timing of what's going on elsewhere, it would be plausible for Arilay to survey the traffic jam on the transporter pad, chime in over the loudspeakers and then append "By the way, could you please get out of the way? I've got prisoners to transport to the brig."

That works!
I've got an at-home exam today, but I'll hopefully find time to write afterward. If not today, then tomorrow.

They'll turn your world around@Will: I failed to mention that Aynara didn't let go of Haydn after she caught him falling against her. If he shoves her off, that means her claws rip through where she's holding on to him.

I've got something written for the Forest, I'm just not sure if it's ready yet.
Meanwhile, what would happen if Varla said this? "Yes, we have the means to detect mind control and defend ourselves, and if any of you leave before tonight's lesson in a communal dream, then anything and everything that Mael the mind-controller does to you will be your own fault!"

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight. For my characters, David will remain unswayed (he might not even answer) and Joseph is going to go along with whatever David does.
They'll turn your world aroundSince I play way too much Monster Hunter, have some Monster Hunter music to go along with the totally-not-a-Rathalos.
Hey Will, what are the finer details of Bonnie's hastening spell? Is it purely for foot speed, or would it affect things like more general movement or, for specific instance, Joseph's transformation?
They'll turn your world aroundIt increases (currently at x2) movement speed for walking, running, attacking, etc. Internal effects-over-time will match the hastened speed. Eternal factors will not.
So, I believe Joseph's transformation would occur faster.
Another note: Bonnie's hastening spell only goes up to x4 speed by itself, because things get a bit wonky and/or dangerous.

Miss, it's also your turn in the forest. Just bringing it up because I didn't see you mention it in your note.
