Ah, I see the edit's been made. I've got some physics problems to finish in order to be on schedule with my homework, but I'll try to get some writing in after that.

edit: Going to be busy tonight, but I've got some time to write before then. However, I'm also real tired, so if I can't get this stuff done now, I'll be sure to get to it around midday tomorrow.

~@Apocalemur, are you still busy? I'm starting to forget if it's your turn or Morag's author's turn.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

[up]I may soft reboot the cycle if need be.

I say that because I'll be making a post for the notice board group sometime tomorrow. I can make posts for other places too.

What do you mean by "soft reboot"? What's going to change? Is there going to be a time skip? Rosalind has a rather fragile mind and I don't want to be surprised by any changes that imply anything out of character for her. For example, she wouldn't spontaneously decide to ditch Ozurr for Morag without a reason strong enough to override her Stranger Danger fear.

Bleh, the crime that is DST and early classes and not ever enough sleep is really harming my writing ability. Probably won't get anything done until the evening at the earliest, if then.

[up][up]No changes, just thought I'd come up with something to get the ball rolling.

Instead, I added a succubus.

I'll get my part for the forest done when I have both time and a brain that isn't melting putty. Hoooopefully tomorrow.

I lost my most recent progress on my post drafts, by switching from a borrowed laptop to my desktop. Please excuse me for a bit, my muse is going to be distracted while I'm busy shaking my fist at Google Drive for not saving my .txt document like it was supposed to.

Will: We need you!

Miss: You should try getting a small hard drive for your switches. Those do wonder and is a hell a lot better than google drive.

Okiedoke, I've updated my post to include a section for the Forest.

Edit: and now next week's classes have been cancelled thanks to a certain pandemic. Should have more time to write, I suppose.

Stay clean you all.

So, I've noticed that the thread has been going on for...a long time, to say the least lol, and we're all still on the first day, and I'm sure some of y'all want to get to the next day already.

But there's still some folks that have plot threads not yet wrapped up on their first day, and I feel a bit regretful for jumping us into the night so soon.

I guess what I'm trying to say is we should figure out how we're going to move on to the next day without rushing plot threads OR derailing the thread to the point where it dies.

My Mayatans are nocturnal, my vampires' circadian rhythms are tampered with by being vampires, and my Viporises don't have a circadian rhythm. While some of my characters will be going to sleep, the others will be awake. This can be a feature, not a bug, as waiting around on guard duty means I don't have to post for them unless something in the night happens for them to react to.

On their current trajectory, David and Joseph could be set to retire for the night pretty shortly, barring unforeseen excitement. The other two appear to be in the midst of unforeseen excitement.

Totally unrelated story, but in the spirit of whatever I'm feeling right now, I'd like to report that my oldest cat has recovered fantastically from a mysterious incident from a week and a half ago that left him despondent and—we had feared—close to death. I know it's a cat's way to isolate itself when injured, and when he vanished the day after turning up with mysterious bruising (vet later told us it looked like he was hit by a car), I was a little terrified that he'd gone off to die, all by himself, and that what I'd seen of him was the last I'd seen of him.

This cat is pretty much my roommate and best bud. We've had him for 15 years. I've lived more of my life with him in it than without. So I crawled into the very cramped, very difficult to reach space under our house (like half the height of this with low-hanging pipes and pillars limiting arm space) to retrieve him. And he wouldn't budge on his own, so I had to do a sort of supine crab walk with him on my belly, which, as difficult as it may sound, was actually more difficult when you consider that he's a pretty lazy house cat and has not thinned in his age. But more than anything, I was constantly worried thereafter that he would die anyway, and that my interference only aggravated his suffering.

FORTUNATELY, that was not the case. We took him to the vet, got a better idea of what was wrong, got him some pain medicine. And brought him home. Slowly but surely (actually kinda quickly, thinking about it), and through a lot of rest, he's begun to resume his normal behavior. Whatever happened to him happened in the middle of the night, and he's never been the kind of cat to wander in the streets. In the end, we think it's most likely that he just had a really bad fall.

In other news, the neighbor's cat seems to have reconnected with his people. Got neutered and now he only visits to mooch food off of us before skedaddling. sad

Anyway, I leave you with a year old pic of the big pillow, starved for pop tarts.

I'm back! I'll need to re-read the forum before I post, but I'm back.

I'm kind of the opposite of busy now, as both my job and my primary social hobby have effectively shut down for the entirety of March.

A couple of nights ago I Was Having Such a Nice Dream. I thought I would have pried my muse out of the gutter by now, but she's still stubbornly sitting in there.

[down] Yeah, I'm stuck. I pried my muse out of the gutter for just long enough to write for Nyorla and Rosalind, but my muse returned to the gutter before I could redirect her to Sick Bay.

I've got chunks written, at this point it's a matter of assembly. But Aunt Flo was partying all night last night, making a bloody mess and repeatedly waking me up. I suspect tonight isn't going to be much better. But at least now I have a plausible explanation for that strange in-and-out-of-the-gutter mood swing I was in before Aunt Flo showed up.

Edit for a random idea: Do D'voreem have the kind of eyes that catch and reflect torchlight in the night?

Who was it that introduced the D'voreem to the thread?

edit: I searched, and it looks like they were Wolf1066's creation. Given that he had to leave the threads early last year for life reasons, I don't think you'll be getting a definitive answer on that particular inquiry, Miss. That said, I don't think there'd be any fuss if you ran with the idea.

I got an e-mail from HR this afternoon saying that, because there is currently no set re-opening date for my place of work, all part time, seasonal, and on-call staff have been laid off. That includes me. I've worked at this place for eight years...

I may need a while to process this.

Oh that is terrible, I'm sorry apocalemur. I hope things work out for you, but that kind of shake-up after so long is... rough to say the least. I'm sorry.

We are certainly living through interesting times, so to speak.

@apocalemur: Oh man, that's... Why would they do that? Yes, it sucks for you and and you have my sympathies, but there's also this: they're setting themselves up for the embarrassing possibility that they won't have enough workers to handle reopening. If that comes to pass, I hope they swallow their pride and come groveling back to re-hire you.
